32 freezing rain hitting, I abandoned the commute and retreated to the farm, after I saw some fool try and pass me in a 45, (i was doing 40) and did a 360.
He/she managed to slide through the intersection sideways. Oh MY.

That was it for me.

Coming home, the firestation was sending out the squads. Guess the roads are, hazardous.

Be safe, from what I heard, our cold snap is over. 60 possible by Saturday.

Place it on a baking sheet, and drizzle it with a little Olive Oil. Sprinkle with salt and papper, or Lemon pepper, or seasoning salt, and place okra directly on a grill tray. (IOW, you remove it from the baking sheet.) I put my okra on the grill on the warming rack. Cook 5 minutes, then turn with tongs. When the okra "gives to the tongs, it is ready, which will take another 3-5 minutes, depending on the heat. ENJOY!

And, if you line the baking sheet with foil before drizzling the oil, clean up is easy too! However, cooked this way, the okra is not good left over. I never have had any left over, at lesat, not that I can remember!

Great recipe! Thanks.

Good Morning. 0640, rain, 52* with 100% humidity. Forecast high of 68* with 30% chance of rain today, and a low of 61* with 60% chance of rain tonight.

All this talk of TV's, I recently changed out the old 27" tube type at my office with the flat screen from upstairs. I was trying to pick up an over the air channel {ABC} that the cable company had taken off because of a contract dispute. Most of the FSU football games were on ABC so I was listening to the games on the radio and watching the game later from my DVR at home. Well, the signal was less than ideal, and they got the channel back on by the end of the season anyway. But this left me with a very heavy extra TV at home. Not wanting to lug it upstairs, I put it in the shed and use a digital converter box and rabbit ears with it. If it will warm up enough for me to spend any time out there, I will have a TV now.

I just bought a used 32" sony (outrageously heavy)

yup, about 140 pounds...this is the one I'm trying to get rid of, likely an older version, and even the delivery guy said he couldn't do it by himself.
Hopefully my BIL's two big sons will be over tomorrow to get it out without wrecking the house doing it. It's physically not that big, sort of, but it's
immensely heavy. Must be some serious copper or something valuable in there...going to the tv recycler, no one else takes these things.
Hernia city.

I guess I should have looked outside earlier. Everything is white again. Should make for interesting driving.

I got a 42" Dell plasma monitor from work that wasn't working. After 2 years of sitting in the basement, I pluggged it in and it now works great.. Had to move a 36" toshiba to install the plasma and it took 2 of us to move the Toshiba. It is now sitting in the corner of the basement where it will probably stay even if we move out of the house. Let the new owner deal with the heavy thing.;)

Weather Report Mossflower Woods in the Old Dominion...

Temp keeps flopping from 31 to 33. Pond is seriously frozen solid with about 1/8" of fresh rain atop it. The beavers have REALLY been busy while I was gone. The pond has grown, and the pond behind my pond (on the next property also) has grown threefold it seems.

I got my truck up the hill at 6am just as the freezing rain was starting. the radio is chok full of guys like the one passing riptides this morning schools are going from 2 hr delay to closed as I type.

I've got a company function in Georgetown tonight, glad the cold snap is over... lol... Hope I can get out later today so I can attend.

Feeling odd this morning... not sure if it is meloncholy due to weather and and my situation... or due to the amazing and delicious chorizo chili con carne I made 2 Decembers ago that I found in the freezer that I over ate for dinner last night...

Radio is reporting over 100 accidents right now...

Nice and warm at my dining room table in my bachelor ranch house...

Be well,
David

All.

Ron, When you say lots of birds in Texas we usually mean several thousands. This is a picture of the calm at the bird feeder yesterday right before the storm of birds descended on my feeders and cleaned them out in a few minutes. Think Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.

Good Morning! 63˚ cloudy misting, .15" rain heading to the 70's. I'm through with the flu for the year and survived. However I was wondering if I would for a few hours there one time.

We have those down here also. The Green Parrots come in groups of 50 or more. The birds in the pictures do not get into flocks like the parrots and sparrows. I need to go down closer to downtown McAllen and take pictures in the evening. Grackles and Parrots line the power lines as far as you can see. Grackles in one area, Parrots in another.
