Sodamo, looks like that pile of snow in your backyard might need some FEL work before the grass dies.

The clouds are rolling in pretty fast and it looks like the rain won't be far behind. So I walked on over and did my fowl duties for the day. My BIL used to travel the fighting cock circuit. These days he just raises them. {Sister wouldn't approve of the blood sport} I remembered the camera today. Here is a few pictures of the most impressive ones. I think the little tin houses of the tethered ones look like tents in an Army camp.

They also do a few hens for eggs. And Sister has a few Peacocks. All these were raised from eggs. The movable pen is called a tractor. How fitting.

BIL is a coon hunting fool. He raised Redbone Coon hounds to sale. The first two are his brood *******. The Bluetick is one he bought to hunt with. The last young dog is one of his best hunters.

Larro, neat pictures, the first one made me zoom in to inspect, couldn't figure out where they were attached and it's not to the shed but to the ground in front.
And far enough away from each other.
pretty hard to socialize that way, but then, their DNA might not be too friendly.
tastes like chicken but mighty tough...![]()

I use to have an old black and tan that could find a coon in a cement box!![]()
These dogs are good hunting dogs, but almost everyone they sell is as a pet. It's a shame to put a dog with a nose like that in a little backyard for it's whole life.
With all the chickens, coons used to be a big problem for them. Now after six years in the coon hound business, they are just about cleaned them out. He had a pup named Thunder that was raised with the chickens and would protect them from all critters. He was the only dog that ran loose. In five years the BIL had killed over 100 coons with Thunder. He would be in a dead sleep and hear her baying. He would roll out of bed and grab his boots and rifle, go kill the coon and come back to bed. Last summer Thunder got bit by a rattler and it killed him. They have been trying to train another chicken dog, but he wants to suck eggs instead of protecting the chickens.
