Thanks for the pics, Kev. I pictured that bale spear to be at least an eight footer, hence the curiosity. Guess it's for the little bales, not those big round ones?

Either way, that looks like a solid set up. If you haven't had forks for your tractor before, you'll smile every time you figure out a new way to use them!

Yes, now I have to return the forks I was borrowing, and that is why I ordered them, the bale spear was just a nice add on. The spear is 49" long and I used them to move 5' bales around under cover this afternoon. Can't say I have ever seen an 8' spear and not sure my tractor could pick up anything that needed one that big.

KevT, In this pic it looks like you have one or two 3pt spreaders? If so, any brand recommendations? Last year a poster said they were happy enough with their Cosmo brand spreader but it took some experience to get the spreader settings, pto and tractor speed all working together to get the right application rates.

I need one of those for my field reclamation project to spread seed and lime, pelletized lime I suppose would work best.

Any advice is welcome.

Nice forks and spear too. :)

Yes both of mine are Cosmo brand. WOW good eyes. Don't mention all the garbage on the property, okay? I used the older one to spread lime (pelletized) and seed last year, and although I bought it used, it rusted up from not washing it out good. So now that I rebuilt it I use that one for fertilizer and such, and the new one for seed only. As far as adjusting them, I just set the shutters open enough to let the product out, and the RPMs (PTO) speed to fling it the right distance. Don't really know if that is the correct way, but so far it has worked on the back pasture.

Kev, I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but if you ever leave the hay spear in their pasture, make sure it is turned down toward the ground. Horses seem to go out of their way to find ways to hurt themselves.

Thanks Larro, but I don't leave anything out that man or beast can get hurt on. Mostly because I would end up impaling myself before the horses would. One of the main reasons I don't drink or do drugs... I don't need help getting hurt

a successful day downsizing, though I'm sure in Eric's neighborhood, anything even this size would be called
a lorry or whatever. Even better, and while this will hardly qualify for Ripley's believe it or not, this photo was taken on my pocket camera, an inexpensive Canon PowerShot, and that of course is no big deal. What is a big deal is that the camera recently went through an entire one hour and five minute wash cycle in a modern Maytag, with extra rinse. The battery was dead, but it charged right up, and the photos on the memory card were ok, as expected. But no way would the camera work.
Well...I doubt it will have a long life but for a non weatherproof camera, this sure is takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.
Also likely indicative of how little water is actually used in a modern washer, never looks like it has enough to wash anything.
But they do.
Canon, you get a  on this one.

Super nice truck Drew. I have always been a Ford man myself, but that truck could have me looking. Congratulations

Cannon has always made a tough camera as far as if your washer uses enough water... well there have been rumors...

Drew. Glad your camera is working again. Nice truck. I have a buddy looking at a 2500 gas very similar to yours.

8C/46F and feeling quite cool with a swirling easterly breeze.

Had to keep the dizzy lamb in last night, it kept falling over. A bottle of milk had it back up on it's feet before bedtime, two steps forward one step sideways. This morning it still walks like a drunk. Balance is much better when it's running at full speed around the small paddock reserved for poorly sheep.

Drew : My, what a smart looking pickup truck. I wish our parking lots were more spacious.

I presume the "RAM" on the side is a model name.
Do they have a "EWE" too, slightly smaller and only available in gender stereotype pink for the ladies ? Or have I got that wrong and it's simply that vehicle content hazard warnings are compulsory in your state ?

Eric, too funny, "real men" don't drive ewes, right?

cooler morning, only going to 73 today, should be very pretty out.
However I am staying inside, baking some corn raisin biscuits for dinner, old friends staying for the night on the way to visit family in florida. No outside duties today; seems all I do is run wash (with or without cameras in my jeans...) I get so dirty outside every day. Sure did take that for granted, finding those nicely folded clean jeans ready for me each day and a wife who could not understand how one person could dirty so many clothes. Well, it's easy!

Carpenters doing great work in the woodshop, they should be done today and then I can finish the rest. Need to call the electrician back so I can get some light in there to see. I just love the smell of sawdust.

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 32° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 67° with partly cloudy skies. Bought a new laptop yesterday. HP sure put a lot junk on it to try and collect more money. Most of it is gone. But some keep popping up. Heading to Port Huron to visit family today.
Drew, nice truck. Except for scenery pictures, my pictures these days are taken with a iPhone. Hope I never wash it.:D Glad yours is working.
Good Morning All.

Been a while ...

38F and mostly sunny ... been burning a fire in the WBF for the last couple of days as it's been a bit on the chilly side. Hopefully be able to get rid of most of the remaining wood here at the house over the next few nights so I don't have to move it for the summer.

This year is the first year in quite a while that we've managed to get the lawn cleaned up and the mowing under control early in the year.

The spell of nice weather we've had over the last couple of weeks has kept us pretty busy with outdoor projects ... there's sure no shortage of them.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.

Good morning, 39F heading to 64F. Finally got the sealer on the grouting on the backsplash in the kitchen last night. Kept forgetting to do it, only remembered when I am too tired to give a care. Must come with age.

47 heading to a sunny 71. Couldn't ask for a nicer day.

Got 4 food plots tilled yesterday but ran out of time for planting and fertilizing...will do that today. Dave, I use a Cosmo spreader. I've been very pleased with it for 10 years...always wash it out after use and keep it covered with a tarp. I'm getting ready to go attach it now.

Eric, glad you're lamb is sobering up.

Drew, smart move on switching trucks since it sounds like no long distance camping trailer is planned.

52 this morning and nice out. A family on the other side of town had a big black bear come in and kill an adult sheep. The got a picture of him and posted it on Face book.

LOL ... like a sore throat ?

Actually, I've missed following this thread ... just have too much going on ... and a lack of energy ...

Yeah ... I saw that pic/read the post ... that rebuild sure looks interesting ... mainly because my loader has excessive slop in the pin bushings ... :D

LOL ... right ...

outdoor pics?
Nope ... haven't been taking any lately, other than a few with the iPhone of the pilated woodpeckers that seem to visit on a daily basis ... and those seem to turn out pretty crappy.

Need to grab a fresh battery for the PowerShot ...

Thanks. Cosmo seems to be a reasonable unit and the price is okay. Good tip on the washing out.

wngsprd: Thanks for your input too on Cosmo.
