Bought a new tool today, a rotozip tool. I needed to cut a hole for a new electrical box. I figured a new project required ( justifies) a new tool! Pretty neat, it include a “ dust vault “ a dust collection system. Seems to work good. So I got a little work done, learned how to use a new tool, had lunch with some friends, then a trip to Harbor Freight, picked up a couple of clamps, and a freebie flashlight. Now drinking a 2 hearted ale. Life is good!

Good evening all. Wife stopped in to see mom and she could hardly talk. Took a drink and talked better. Some friends stopped in after supper and she was talking good so I think we will have a talk with the nurse about fluid intake. She is having a hard time with CHF so it is a balancing act. Prayers for RIP"s and Eddie's wife. Ed

Sold our 2001 Toyota Sequoia today. Bought it used in 2004 and just over 105k Miles. Like losing a member of the family. Wife was reluctant to sell, but we’ve had her replacement Pilot 15 months.
Put ad on CL about 11am yesterday and got 20 responses. A bit overwhelming as I surely didn’t expect that many or so soon. Most came in the afternoon when I was otherwise involved and couldn’t answer. Some with questions, some wanting me to text, and of course the expected low ballers. As I was somewhat behind the curve I was in a quandary how to handle so I composed an email answering all questions plus additional info I thought might be appropriate and a couple of sentences on pricing and offers. I sent the same email to all respondents with my number for them to text back if seriously interested. Only took a couple of minutes and one of the first emailers texted that he was ready to buy. Before we had finished I had more responses. The second guy offered to pay more than my asking price, even sent pic of the money laid out. I told him I couldn’t/wouldn’t renege on the deal, but assured him I’d let him know if it fell thru. Before it was done, there were 5 people waiting, hoping they’d be the one. Amazingly, at least to me, they all assured me they had the cash in hand. WOW.
Still raining like crazy, I met the buyer about 8:45 this morning at a neutral place and it was a done deal before 9. He too had bundles of 10 Ben Franklins and 2 Grants. Shortly thereafter they were safely deposited at my credit union. Buyer is a 33 yo with 6 kids. Perfect family vehicle.
Some might wonder why we had a Sequoia given it’s just the two of us. Goes back to wife’s accident where it totalled a Cadillac DeVille. When it came time to replace it, a Mercedes S500 long body seemed tanklike appropriate. Loved driving that car. The decision to move to Hawaii also brought the realization that a 4x4 would be more appropriate. Wife was thinking Hummer, but luckily a neighbor got one and she soon realized they were rather cramped. Being longtime Toyota truck folks the Sequoia was an easy choice and we found a really nice used one. It was traumatic to watch it drive away today. I promised that when/if we replace the Pilot she could get another Sequoia.

Some might say I priced too low, but I feel I priced it fairly, even allowed a couple hundred to bargain, but got full price and apparently most of the buyers felt the price was good as well.
All in all a good experience.

We are at around 12" of snow so far at 2:45PM. Went out to clear off deck
around 11AM - 3" at that time. Cleaned again at 1:30PM - another 4". At
2:45PM, there's a good 5 inches on the deck again. Coming down at over
2"/hr at the moment. Looks like the snow blowers (walk behind and 3pt
74") will get a good workout when this winds down.

Well, as I figured, the snow removal equipment received a heavy workout
by the time the heavy snowfall wound down - about 24" and still light
snow when these photos were taken. And, to think that just two weeks
ago, there was no snow on the ground here in Candia.

The only problem that I ran into was while doing a favor for the neighbor
across the street. After making the first pass down my 470' driveway,
I noticed that his driveway entrance was filled up by the town plows
as they went by, so I headed over to clear it out. I was half done when
I ran into a hidden rock (about basketball size) which abruptly sheared
one of the shear bolts on the blower. Ouch - what a racket that made.
I had to retreat and make a fast trip back up my driveway to the house
where I had some light to work with. Only took about five minutes to
replace the shear bolt and then returned back to finish his driveway
entrance and then make my second and final pass back up my driveway.

Up early to clear the drive. Since it's supposed to snow all day today, with an additional several inches, I'll just do enough to ensure I can get out and finish up after work.

So...right now it's 29 degrees and snowing. High in the mid-30's

FYI for others-- those RotoZip bits will work in Dremel-like highspeed rotary tools. I have some of them that I use occasionally for free hand cutting in plastic electrical boxes.

Another "cool tool" is an oscillating tool. Perhaps more useful than a Rotozip. You can plunge cut in to materials with the blades, and also the blades are useful for making a lot of cuts in tight places.

Good morning. Jack frost must have decided that a 2 day break was enough for him, returning last night to make a fool of the professional forecasters.

It feels cool inside too because I have't been able to light a fire in the kitchen this morning, the winter's supply of firewood has all gone. Unless I can find some children like Andrew's, I will have to make splitting more wood my priority for this afternoon. If only I had wi-fi in the tractor, then I could listen to Carmen Dorobat's lecture at the same time to remind me why my hydraulic splitter coupled with the lousy rate I pay myself gives me that comparative advantage over simply switching on the ground source heat pump... :)
