Good Morning!!!! 77F @ 4:15AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 102F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Woke early to answer Mother Nature's call, and thought I'd open up the house and let some cool air in. But 77F is hardly cool, and like Ron sez, doesn't bode well for the rest of the day's temperatures. There have been thunderstorms north of here, but the accompanying lightning has started several fires, some of them growing to over 10,000 acres. So dry is fine with me.
Did your aunt miss the party too, Ron? With all the CV19 in the area, maybe that's not such a bad thing?
Also hoping the hurricane passes you by without harm, David. I thought hurricanes in the Pacific were called typhoons. Did that change?
Hope your move goes smoothly, Drew, and you finish before it gets too hot. Would it be easier to just bring the motor home to the facility and load it directly? FWIW, Rooibos is one of my faves, too! And I agree that it's probably better to pay attention to what the cardiologist says, and not so much the GP.
All that moist air is bound to cause corrosion problems in the air compressor components, Rick. And if there's oil mixed in, too, the emulsion it forms isn't good for moving parts, either. Your idea of using Fluid Film the way you did makes sense, in pretty much the same way as using DeOxIt on electrical contacts does.
At work, both compressors are plumbed with timers to drain the bottom of the tank every 5 minutes or so for a few seconds. At home, the speedaire's drain is an inch or 2 off the ground, with not much room for a hand. I might mount an old airgun to a short hose and tie it off up higher to make it easier to drain.
Another stroke of genius, Kyle. Thanks for passing that one along.
The question on my mind is how do you sanitize air?
I worry about the people who aren't worried about the disease. We have talked to friends who go to the grocery store. They say there are still a lot of people who don't wear masks.
That's the sixty-four dollar question, isn't it? Out here, the governor is slapping restrictions back on because the infection rate is reaching all time highs. This time, though, with better treatments in place, far fewer people are ending up in the hospital, and even fewer are dying. But back to your question, Jay has taken to wearing a respirator with charcoal filters that is far better than even N95 masks, and his sunglass/goggles would do a decent job of protecting his eyes from airborne virus. You can also take advantage of the stores that have early elder opening hours, so there are fewer people sharing the air in the store. Many of the new cases out here have been traced back to family and small group gatherings where social distancing was either impractical or just ignored. So that's another tactic that you can control to your advantage, and can choose not to enter a place if it's too full.
Thanks for the link to the Tempest network, Don. Those things are selling like hotcakes! WU gives mounting guidelines for weather stations, and say the ideal height is 5' off the ground. Are your sprinklers shooting water into the air that high?
If I was in Shiner, TX, I'd be more inclined to visit the brewery than a meat packer...:drink:
Barber shops are another of the governor's casualties. Think I may just start workin' on a pony tail, like back in my hippy/college student days.
Finished cleaning up the repair plates for the hatch on the firetruck tank, and got them welded into place. The fitup wasn't that great and I spent a lot of time filling in gaps. Turns out that uses a lot of electricity, and since it was during a peak solar time, it was all free. Though I did make sure that the A/C was off so as not to blow the battery breaker again. By 3PM I'd soaked through a pair of jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt, so it was time to call it quits for the day. Spent the rest of the afternoon watching videos on networking.
If I can get an early start this morning, I'd like to get the stiffeners welded into the tank, then coat everything with the rust converter before it gets too hot. Not sure there'll be enough time for that with the way the thermometer is lookin' though.
Hope everyone's week gets off to a healthy start!
