I have not been into the shop for 2 days....a bunch of personal crap / bs going on.... too much to even begin to get into... I guess being the "patriarch" has it's cost....
!

Hope it gets worked out.

I’ve made a prediction that the person in wife’s family that causes all the drama will probably ruin thanksgiving. Right now it’s looking like a sure thing. All I know, they ain’t coming to my house.

Back home from almost 1000 mile trip.
The funeral was nice, short and sweet. SIL suffered a long time with severe MS. Mostly just family from our side, as most of her family has already passed away.
Then went to Dads last night.
Rained there heavy in the night, and was just drizzle this morning.
Was in heavy rain on first half of drive home, starting on PA. Had to drive slow, could feel hydroplaning at 60mph. Was caught in one backup. Saw more ahead of us, but they cleared out by the time we got to them.
Exhausting trip.

Got 1” rain at home.

69 out now, .94” since 2 pm. Got the battery hold down in the El Camino, was going to order one, but I dropped a bolt and while fishing around with a magnet I found the original. Adjusted on the timing and idle screws some more, getting close under the hood.
Made lemon pepper garlic chicken quarters for dinner.
Not a real productive day, but some accomplishments.

Good evening all. 38F for the start, clear, calm wind. Light wind day, sky stayed clear, and high temp was 72F. Finished bike maintenance on Volagi dug 6-8 pieces of glass from front and rear tire, front tire needed extra help to get bead to sit correctly on rim. Readjusted brakes front and rear. Went for bike ride, and no nap. Took wife out to dinner in town.
Thanks to all the veterans !!

Mostly, likely not a second coat. I knew with the airless sprayer I could get good coverage on the rough surface compared to rolling. Looking at it a couple hours later, except for a few runs I’m quite pleased.

65 and raining getting up to 69 before it drops.

Flood watch around here...I believe it. Had to take Coco to the emergency vet last night, and I've never seen roads around here so flooded over on the way back home...not just standing water from hard rain, but also water flowing over the road...fortunately the water was only up to the top of the low bridge when we crossed...like you BEF, had to drive 25 to 35 most of the way...glad you got to see your dad and relatives. I'll check our rain gauge at dawn, but expecting a few inches.

rip - saw that the National Museum or the US Army opened yesterday up your way (Ft Belvoir)...the article in the WSJ I read said it is one of the 3 top military museums (one of the others is the Natl Mus. of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Don).

Ron, glad your hearing is improved...a shot in the ear sounds pretty rough.

David, the paint job looks good.

Kyle, a family meal for the first date sounds like a nice way to get things off on the right foot.

Ted, it sounds like you hit all the stores, maybe skipping TSC.

RNG, sounds like a fun trip.

Drinking a pretty good cup of Nicaragua I roasted yesterday. I'm ready for a second.

Good morning. Quite a bit of rain last night, crossing the wetter fields in a tractor now is best left for some other day. It was a good job that I dug post holes yesterday, water was already starting to seep into the first hole as I was back filling. Have some more to do in a hopefully drier field, but think I will save that workout for another day.

Digging holes by hand is a slow way to do things, it does have certain advantages though, for instance it is surprising how many times I have found old drains that would have been smashed with machinery. It is good exercise too, almost guaranteeing a good nights sleep - unlike the nightmares some must experience have after all that wrestling with post hole augers. :)

BEF, nice to see your dad again, he doesn't look fazed at having to wear a mask.

Popgadget, I know what you mean about long lost horizontal surfaces. A couple of years back Ron started to teach me this absolutely revolutionary alternative technique, where you put away what you have used at the end of each day. Unfortunately I am a slow learner :ashamed:

good morning all. Warm out, 66, steady light rain will continue on and off all day, temps dropping all day too.
Sure is nice to have a weather station again, had exactly the same amount of rain as Toppop, .94 indicated.

I have no plans for today, other than maybe housecleaning after plumber tracked the outdoors in.
He swapped out the defective Delta kitchen faucet and "only" charged me the minimum service call fee of $120. For ten minutes work.
Makes me want to learn more about plumbing...

Tried twice to put on new fitted bottom sheet on guest bed, both times got in on wrong way, will try again this morning.
This one has a big tag on it so I should be able to figure this out through process of elimination. Almost motivates me to order all flat sheets
next time.

Ordered sealing tape for air and gas, white ptfe air stuff came in, yellow gas tape comes in today. Will use gas tape on screw connections, not the ball compression ones.
Want to fire up the propane heater I got for garage Amazon.com: Mr. Heater MH6QFAV 6, BTU Portable Propane Forced Air Heater: Home & Kitchen as highs in next few days
only in low 50's. I see a 26 in the forecast for next Wednesday. Need to drain the outside water hose by then. I like to leave it there drained and ready to go, once a fireman...
Think I'll take floor fan out to garage also to move the heat around and will crack a window. Whole building is not air tight at all, garage door stays about an inch above the ground anyway.
I am so spoiled by an electric garage door opener which I now don't have.

Ron, hope you are doing better. Everything three different ENTs did for my tinnitus accomplished nothing, including injecting steroids into middle ear.
My noise cancelling headphones really help at times, like when running vacuum cleaner or driving car at higher speeds vs around town.

64 outside this AM. heading to 66. Rough night. Lots of rain. Lots of flooding. Youngest daughter had to be water rescued about two miles from the house. I could say really bad things about the predicament...but I will not. She said water came up on her fast and the car stalled. By the time the tow truck came water was four feet deep. She is OK, got a boat ride.

I am stewing this AM.... I guess her being away for a few years she forgot about the roads around here. Car looks trashed. And that's in the dark. Sigh...

Now matter how many times you say "Be careful", or hear "turn around, don't drown"...someone always messes up.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe.

wngsprd - saw the museum open too on local news. Will have to head up that way. I am an Army brat.

I am stewing this AM

Mike, glad your daughter is ok. Particularly in the dark, depth of water hard to tell, particularly for inexperienced driver.
Hope the car is fixable

Ken and Paul, thanks for your offers of help. Nice to have you both nearby.
Happily, an hour late for their delivery "window" the truck finally showed up and he backed down the lane and
put the pallet with the gen on it right in my garage. Unit is physically smaller than I thought and thanks to the pallet, came with
an undamaged box. It left Reno NV on Oct 22...

now waiting on some help this weekend to unbox the gen, the bandsaw and the drill press, all way too heavy for me. Did get my metal shelves painted but need to let them
dry overnight until I start piling things on them.

Ken, I like your seating. Making your own wood from scratch sounds very satisfying.

You are going to love that generator, Drew. I have the exact same generator, and I had a chance to actually use it over at the rental place recently during a power outage. We were working over there, and we needed some power. Used the gasoline option, as we have not yet looked at the propane hose.

One thing was a bit of surprise, and that was that it took quite a while before it would start. I had the gas turned off for storage, and of course I turned it on before starting it. However it seemed to take a good 5 to 10 minutes before the gas drain down into the carburetor and got into the engine. Then it started fine and ran great!

Do you keep us posted on how you like it.

3.47” since 2 pm yesterday, still raining and 64 now.
Rip, glad your daughter is OK, my stepdaughter did the same thing a few years back. My daughter and her friend didn’t do that but, they got lost in DC after a concert about twenty years ago, I’m lying in bed at 1:30 am talking them out of the predicament. Other places I’d rather be lost.

Gotta get moving, I’ll check in later.

Have great day, prayers for all.

/ Good morning!!!! #121,695
I spent most of my working life in construction running and working on big equipment so had my share of aches and pains. One time I really messed up my back and on the advise of a good friend went to a chiro. which seemed to work for a while but then I developed a pain in a hip that kept getting worse, he said I have a special treatment for that and laid me out on his table and gave my lower back a big hard twist. Was out of work for a week before my wife found an exercise on the net that had me up and running in no time. Since that time I have found that stretching exercises, often with guidance from physical therapists helps me more than anything. In short I would avoid a chiropractor after my experience and observing friends go through the same thing.

Chiropractors are Quacks. They tried to establish a Chiropractic College here at York University in Toronto, and we wouldn’t let them.

Coffee is done brewing. 23° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 51° with sunny skies. Got my aunt home yesterday. Got colder as day went on. Was not dressed for it. Stayed in house rest of the day. Dr appointment this morning.
I was never in the service. MY Dad, WW1. 2 brothers, Vietnam. Oldest son, Desert Storm. Thank goodness they all came back in one piece. Thanks to them and all other veterans for their service.
Talked to may Aunt and Uncle that was in hospital over weekend. See was moved to a rehab center. 14 days of quarantine and no visitors. She is climbing the walls. Uncle and cousin are negative. Cousins wife is getting better at home.
Using tail for balance.

Riptides, the good new is your daughter is safe.

Drew, I told my new Ear Dr. not work about my Tinniest at this time. It does not affect my everyday life or sleep. My problem is Meniere's disease. Getting treatments for that. I can now understand words being spoken in that ear after first steroid treatment. But volume is very low.

David, like the color.

Buckeye, glad you made it home safe.

LS, hope all the stress goes away.

Wngsprd, another shot today. Some pain when injected. But goes away by the time I leave office. Dr did not show me the needle used for injection. But it must be small.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Prayers for all our Country

Five inches of rain so far more on way

BEF glad you made it back safe and sound

It's that time of year again when my wife wants the HEAT on in the morning and the COOLING in the evening. Nice sunny weather in mid-day but we'd sure like to have some more rain.

/ Good morning!!!! #121,699
My problem is Meniere's disease.
I have same thing Ron, luckily no vertigo. 80 percent hearing loss in left ear, and what comes in is highly distorted, plus varying levels of ringing and rushing noises.
I can hear every heartbeat in my left ear...swush, swush, swush. Just try to tune it out. Effects of steroids minimal and did not last. Sure hope you have better luck.

thanks Check, going to fire it up this Sunday, on propane first. Have two electric heaters I can plug in for test.
Good to know about long gasoline delay, some carbs seem to take forever to fill up.

/ Good morning!!!! #121,700
Good morning, the temp is 31ーF and the high will be 46. Wind WSW 4 mph. Partly cloudy. Indian summer is winding down quickly to more normal temps.

A dump run and town trip today and putter around outside doing the small stuff in preparation for winter.

That is a good pic of the tree rat, Ron.

Have a safe day all
