kenmbz, if you go into the menu for the computer you should be able to cancel the drl (daytime running lights) if they are not mandatory in your state.
Or you could change them over to LED. The drl module in my Wrangler gave up after 3 years and I never replaced it. I know when I need headlights, I don't need them coming on in broad daylight.
This is headlights and there is no way to stop this from happening, modern tech ya know.

To switch over to LED might be an option, but I haven't looked too closely since the bulbs go every two years, truck is 2011 so might not be around more than 2 years from now.

Also needs to have the AC/heater fixed, since the drivers side air door is stuck, that means complete removal of dash, core etc. Not a cheap job. No way to drill it to unstick door either. Bad design.
I think for $40 just replace headlight bulbs, new tires next month and start looking for a replacement (used) truck.

check, two words = bank stocks
LOL if we had bought Royal Bank stocks starting in 1997 when my daughter was born, using her RESP contributions, we would’ve ended up with twice as much money as we did when she had to cash it out at the age of 18. Now I’m not so sure

Afternoon all;

Had some odd job stuff to do this morning, after breakfast I filled bird feeders and headed up to get my wifes car checked over. Had two recalls to be done to it, one for the adaptive cruise not stopping some times, and one for the vehicle not playing an audio warning tone loud enough. Damned thing is loud now. And then had two other issues to be looked at. It's an EV and the indicated state of charge went from 80% to )% overnight on the app and the cars indicator until it was started/activated then it went back to79% charge had numerous messages go across the screen and a vehicle needs service light turned on. Drove it and all seemed fine, did a couple of short trips with it and all faults cleared. And then a common complaint about these is the charge port door open doesn't clear when it's cold out unless you press gently on the hinge side of the cover. Of course they couldn't replicate that issue because it was warmed up in the shop.
So most of my morning was spent either driving or sitting and waiting in the Chevy dealership, from 9 AM till almost3 PM. Will have to say that the little electric vehicle does good around town indicating over 3 miles per kwh of "fuel" but even rural roads with a 55 mph limit in cold weather it drops back down to 2.2 to 2.4 miles per kwh.
This is in cold weather it has gotten up to 27F here today.
Going to warm up a bit tomorrow so we can have a weather advisory;
."WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 3 PM EST FRIDAY...* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected including freezing rain. Total snow and sleet accumulations of an inch or less"
Oh boy, what fun.
Now waiting on a phone call for a pre surgery appointment for another knee replacement, just more fun.

RNG, good advice, thank you. I did find the drill down page for trans temp, too bad I can't select to show it on main screen.
Ram used to allow choice of data, seemed a good idea.
I'm able to show transmission oil temp, engine oil temp, coolant temp, ambient temp, oil pressure, torque converter engagement, Instant Fuel Economy, Distance Until Empty, and RPMs, all on the ScanGauge III main screen. Three more nine parameter screens are available with the swipe of a finger. What's available does very by vehicle, so if you don't see a parameter you want, drop the ScanGauge people an email and they'll tell you for sure if it's available, and how to set it up.

I think Drew was referring to the dash board readout, not ODB readout. I get trans temp on my HD2500 dash menu.

UHC rant: Just had a frustrating call with United Healthcare in regards to my 2024 HSA they never funded. They basically put the blame on me for not opening an account for it with their 3rd party HSA by the end of 2023. My argument that open season went until mid dec 2023, and I never got anything saying I needed to open an account by the end of the year, went on deaf ears.
Pulled out the plan brochure (pays to be a packrat) and saw she half lied, but it did say (after much digging) I had to open the account by the end of 2024. I never got an application to open an account, as far as I know. I have been trying to get this resolved for almost a year now, and now they have run the clock out on me by not responding in time. At one point last year UHC had me call the 3rd party HSA provider, who just told me the application was never finished, and I needed to go back to UHC for them to do it. At no point until today, was I told it was my responsibility to open the account. I have had several HSA plans in the past, none of them required a separate account to be open, they just did it by me signing up for the plan.
rant off:

Good Evening Don,
Sorry I’m just replying to your detailed explanation now but was out working all day and just didn’t have a chance !

I do eat healthier than I used to but I’m
Not sure I could I could follow that diet ! Quite often I will get a salad when we go out rather than a high calorie appetizer! During the week both Kathleen and I. Don’t drink any alcohol but on the weekends we splurge a bit ! 😉

Of course we are going on vacation next Tuesday for 10 days so all that is kind of out the window !!😂

Thanks for listing that out for all of us Don ! 🙏

Good Evening Mostly,
Lou, I agree with you. 3 & 4" snows are a p.i.t.a. Give me a good 12 - 18" dump and be done with it for a month or so.

I am interested in the hydraulic angle on your BB.
Lou, thanks for the action snow shots ! Sorry you had to sit in the Chevy dealer half the day ! 😉
Scott(vt) getting up at 5AM to get grandkids to school is a dedicated grandma
Mostly, she is without a doubt a dedicated Nana !! IMO, a little too much but I usually get over ruled ! 😂

Prayers to all the victims from last nights crash ! 🙏

That really sucks! The maze of health insurance is terrible and getting worse.

Good evening all. 52ºF for the start, rain, .2 in gauge, light breeze. Light wind, moderate gusts, overcast morning, partly cloudy afternoon., and high temp was 65ºF. made coffee to start day, putter, worked on BAK registration and got that done. Bike ride, nap, dinner. Finally got the Outside folk to delete account they forced me to create, grumble grumble.

Good Morning Ron and the rest of GM thread !

My first order for the day is to take a carton of Blue Bell ice cream to a friend who has just got home from the hospital. He had a real close call and is finally on the mend. His wife said he was ok to have ice cream so I'll take some by later this morning. Then I need to attend some meetings and make some calls.

It's 48°F and 'clear' here so hopefully will warm up a little when the sun comes up!

Hoping it's a nice, clear sunny day for everyone!

good morning all
going to be a wet day, but warmer
temps right at the line, hopefully will stay rain, but snowing North of here

Two bit, ice cream is definitely therapeutic. And Blue Bell is good stuff.

heading off around noon to pick up friend and take him to pt. Somewhat difficult for me picking up
his electric wheelchair and putting it in back of suv but I just take my time and put a towel down so I don't scratch anything.
from what I've observed, my friend is not being helped at all, despite PT and cutting edge nerve drugs. Still has no control over right leg so he's
stuck in a wheel chair for the duration. Maybe the best he can do is not have it get worse, or create mental issues for him. His wife is an awesome caregiver but she is down with a new knee.

last day of January

Morning all!
25 going to a rainy 36 so they say
.
Stopped at the Post office yesterday. My certified/first class mail that had to travel 80 miles across the state has now been sent to Boston and back to my original office two times. It is currently lost in the system somewhere!! If it can't be found soon we will have to go to the DMV and request a new copy of title for the wrecked car! No title to the insurance co. means no check!! I should have just sent it regular mail. Would probably already be there!
Let's hope the fridge delivery today goes better!
Going to stop procrastinating and pull the pellet stove out of the fireplace and give it a much needed cleaning. Will shut it down soon so it will be cold when we get back.
Even though I have the special tool to slide it out it is still pretty heavy! I will try and grab a few pics of it disassembled.
Nothing going after that I will be to tired and sore!
That's it for now.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Phil, that sounds exasperating, sorry.

took some time to write note to my friend's wife about his wheelchair use for these doc visits.
He can't drive so he always has a driver.
He has been insisting on taking his very heavy motorized wheel chair and it's a real beast for me to pick up and put
in back of suv. Particularly when I saw the tall lift over on the Expedition.

So i suggested they consider using his lighter weight non motorized chair for these doc visits.
everyone is headed for the same door, and his wife just got a new knee. She shouldn't be picking that thing up either.
plus using the manual chair would give him some needed arm exercise.
I think he has become addicted to his joy stick. I can pick the chair up, have done it many times, but looking to future, this
makes no sense. Wife has to put chair in back of new Cadillac Lyriq. Wait til she scratches that...

Good Morning from Central Texas.
Nearly 5am, temp 48.7 with 40.1 dew point. Forecast is Sun the next several days with high temps 70 to near 80 ! Almost too hot (in sun) for heavy outdoor work.

One of the most successful USAF fighters is the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle, now the (latest Boeing) F-15EX Eagle II version. The AF continues to upgrade and develop this platform to extend service life. One latest modification includes the EPAWSS (Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System) from BAE systems. This system integrates several improvements such as
  • Enhanced situational awareness through all-aspect, broadband radar warning and geolocation capabilities
  • Multi-spectral, RF countermeasures enable rapid response for complete aircrew protection
  • Simultaneous jamming without interfering with radar and radar warning receiver
  • Interoperable with Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar

Good morning,
28° now

Today 01/31
Cloudy with rain developing this afternoon. Snow may mix in. High 39F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.

Tonight 01/31
Rain and snow this evening. Periods of light snow overnight. Low 28F. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precip 100%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.

No plans for today just watch the last day of January go by. I did take the BX for a ride yesterday and pushed back the 4” high banks at the bottom of the driveway lol.
As much as I’m beginning to like the not much snow cover, we really need some moisture to refill the aquifers this spring.

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy
Prayers for our country, it certainly needs them
