First time she wanted to walk on the ice...very shallow there...knee deep. Was warm enough that I was ready to step in and help if the ice broke.

good morning, 39 going to 49 wind gusts to 30 mph

walked Cody, fired up the wood stove, coffee made.

using ice bags on the wrist. Did not sleep much due to pains.

Sorry to hear about the wrist, m.

Good morning, the low is 0 and the high going to 3°F. Wind N 8 mph. 30% chance of flurries.

I have always considered whoaing more important than going. Rubber shredding acceleration is great when you have lots of money for new tires. Not so great when you are on a fixed income.

Drew, I am thinking that you just bought a money pit.

I've got nothing planned for today, so I might as well go back to bed.

Have a safe day all

Good morning TBN!!
39 this morning supposed to get to low 60s under sun. About an 1" of rain yesterday but it has moved on. Looking forward to next weeks temps. Supposed to be mid 70s Tues. and Thurs.
Finally FEMA came and did their inspection. Looked at the bridge and then needed to see the house. I made him cross on the stepping stones I cross every day. I don't think he liked that much. I wanted him to get the full experience :) The wife was sitting in the truck and could've ferried him across but what fun is that? He got what he needed and the wife drove him back across the river to his car.
We should hear something in the next 7 to 10 days.
Walked the dog a couple of times until the rain came.
I sat down with my son's iPhone to try and get in to it again. Been trying on and off since he died in Nov. Low and behold I got in. Had to erase it and then restore a back up he made just before he died. I want to get a handle on his finances but so far the accounts I have found have been suspended. We hired a lawyer to handle probate so I will be able to tell her what accounts he has anyway. Not a very pleasant job but I will get through it.

Time for a second cup and see what the day holds.

Everyone have a great and safe day!!

Good Morning from Central Texas.

Upper 30's start headed to 70's. They say 80's by Monday. Actually, too warm for me this time of year.

After feeding cattle, hope to get to some hog damage repair and some other outdoor jobs.

Hope all have a great day.

did you enjoy playing hide and seek?
I never knew there is a global treasure hunt going on in 170 countries.
It's a game of sort that's been going on for 20 years.
has anyone ever gotten involved with this?

not sure this is the most practical use of your time...

I tried to see what geocaches are around me but it requires you to download an app, sign up for something. no thank you.
they said geocaches also show up on your gps. Really? is there a control on an Iphone that turns on geocaches on maps?

Spike, are you repairing with a 30.06?

47 outside and that is the high expected right now. A ditto weather report from wngsprd. LOL.

One last ice spot remains on the driveway. Some pasture areas still have snow on them. Today should be the last of it all. Ground is now mushy for an inch or so depth wise, then frozen. Makes for interesting walks to feed and care for the animals.

Not much to do today, some real job work, yep, on a weekend, some paperwork and some track down resources stuff. Highlight of yesterday was replacing a porch light bulb, need a step ladder, swapped out with success. Then less than two hours later, it went out again. Hoping it is just the batch of really old bulbs. Which they really are.

Hope all have a good day, be safe.

Good Morning,
Ct, 30 to start but heading south from here ! 🥲

We went out for dinner with friends last night and then went to a show at the Shubert Theater, the show was a Michael Bubble clone, but he was very good , accompanied with a 17 piece orchestra! Very good show !

Will be interesting to learn why the helicopter was climbing, but
David, I have heard on the news that some of the issues may have been from the helicopter pilot using night vision glasses and then removing them ! Terrible accident , prayers to all the families!

Hope to get some outside time before the real cold moves in !

Hope all have a great day ! 🙏

sounds like driving my rv in heavy traffic
you can't take your eyes off the ball for a moment
looks like the helicopter pilot got distracted somehow at the worst possible
moment. One or two seconds might have meant a miss.
Since it's coming out this has happened before, apparently they have now shut down that whole
helicopter alley down the Potomac.

I don't see this getting any better with more drones in the air.
wonder if pilots are reporting a lot of near misses.
getting to be crowded airspace out there. Good tech should prevent this.
drones don't have to have that collision avoidance tech and neither do military helicopters apparently.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 5:00AM. Rain likely. High 56F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall may reach one inch. Locally heavy rainfall possible.
Rained on and off yesterday, picking up 0.8". We've had a couple hundredths since midnight. WU 10-day says 1.75" more today, but hourly as quoted above says maybe an inch. We'll see who's right tomorrow.
And even with the fancy electronics, I still date label the windshield on the trucks, and date label the filters on the equipment. LOL. Just old fashioned...or old.. I guess.
I keep the part of the box oil filters come in that has the filter part number. On the back I write the date and mileage for the oil change, and it goes into a folder along with receipts and instruction sheets. Do the same for other parts, and keep a running log for maintenance and repairs on each of my vehicles. Used to do it in a database, but Filemaker got rediculously expensive license wise, so now the info just goes into a flat text file. Also in each file I'll note the various oil capacities and filter part numbers, tire pressures and lug nut/bolt torque, and sometimes even the wrench sizes for various maintenance jobs.

Lady at Ford dealer parts counter was really nice, but had to get service department guy to make sure batteries were bad. He said he needed the truck there to verify something and I asked how I'm supposed to get truck started with two dead batteries. And that the dead batteries were in the van out in the parking lot. He got a little huffy, took my receipt for the dead batteries and disappeared into the back room. When he came back he told the parts lady to get two new batteries and handed back my receipt. Then asked me to call him with the odometer reading of the Ford when I got home. Young man sitting next to woman at parts counter just sat there while she man handled the two batteries onto a dolly. I asked him why he wasn't helping her, and he said he was too busy with the computer. Service guy stood by watching, too. I gave her a silent "wow" and held the door for her, then we both wrestled the old/new batteries for the swap.

Bean burrito was delicious at my usual roach coach. Still have half for lunch today.

Grocery shopping took extra long because there were a lot of people shopping. I thought the rain would keep people at home, but it seemed to have just the opposite effect. Clerk forgot to charge me for the paper grocery bags, saving me $.10/bag. Do they charge for grocery bags where you live, or is that just another piece of Kalifornia idiocy?

Sick neighbor asked me to pick up Lipton's powdered soup for him (his whole family came down with pneumonia), but I found five flavors on the shelf. Called him and got the onion flavor his wife wanted. He handled the pickup of the auger I sold a week ago for me, so he also got a 36 pack of Coors Light with his powdered soup. Saw the new gate arch he'd welded together from 8" pipe on my way out of his driveway. Told him I'd help when he's ready to put it up. Gonna be a ticklish job.

All that foolishness took all day, so did't get around to calling Ford dealer before they closed. U-bake pizza tasted good, newish "Mad Max universe" movie couldn't keep me awake. I'll try to finish it tonight. I'll probably spend most of today cleaning the house in preparation for sale.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend.

geocaching been around a long time.

Local commie town has outlawed plastic bags, so try not to shop there. If they charge for paper, it's the store's doing it probably. Used to be a nice town, but now we just refer to it as north montgomery county. They ruin one area, then expand to the next.
local cops did catch a pair last week (from the city) who stole a couple motor bikes at 1:30 AM, it got reported as theft in process, they ran from cops but spike strip stopped them down the road. they bailed out and ran, but 1 caught, then drone team found the other one hiding. local sheriff now use thermal drones for searches.. Turns out the vehicle they used was also stolen. Don't know if they are eligible for deportation, or if they will be felt sorry for and released in the city to repeat.

wife did make me a cup of coffee before she headed out.

Good Morning
It’s 30° which is the high for today, be in the teens by nightfall. Yesterday’s all day rain netted less than 0.2”.
Clear and breezy today.
Yesterday started with unloading the smoker and getting the meat into the Cambro. Here’s the before and after from a 12 hour visit to the smoker.

IMG_6053.jpg

IMG_6054.jpg

I was surprised that it finished so quickly, it’s normally closer to 16 hours or more.
We had a nice dinner, and gave away a batch of BBQ’d meats.

I got a chuckle, when the wife went out to run errands, she took her old RAV4 instead of the Lexus. I asked her if it was because she didn’t want to get it dirty on the wet roads, she sheepishly admitted that was the reason.

Spent some time in the shop, and on the computer, but didn’t get a lot accomplished, changed headlights on daughters car, the last time I did it, I marked the covers with a paint marker for direction of rotation as well as orientation. Made it a whole lot easier this time.

Today might go back to the mounting the winch on the excavator project, I’d like to update the databases on the little plane, and the perennial favorite, clean and organize the shop. I have one filing cabinet that could consume an entire day on its own.

Morning all, 34 going to 35 and cloudy, breezy.
Today if I feel up to it is time to reassemble garage ceiling, now that the rain has stopped.
At least the heat works in there now.

Local PO , after much work, got some thieves from a theft at a local store back in April!
Proud of them.

Off to replace Jeep headlight. only outdoor work that will probably get done today.

Be well,

   / Good morning!!!! #202,694
picked up chocolate brownies at supermarket and then went to barber.
lots of white hair, well some white hair... clipped off and I now look presentable.
will probably have beard trimmed off next time I see him in early March.
stopped at apple orchard on way home and picked up their small assortment.
had one when I got home and what an improvement over store bought.
I have always loved apples.

I saw a recipe for using those rolls of refrigerated biscuit dough to make apple turnovers.
think I might play with that later.
will sweeten with something other than sugar, have some ground dates I can add.

nothing planned for today. temps dropping, looks nice outside but going below freezing soon.

gps worked on car today. I'm sure they will write me off as problem not found

they are still trying to determine why the Learjet 55 doing ambulance duty crashed in Philadelphia.
A sudden catastrophic explosion mid air I heard.
boy all kinds of speculation going on.
disintegrated in mid air I heard.
what could make a small jet plane blow up?

69°F and .51 inches rain

Hope to get back to mowing today if not still too soggy.

Meeting friends for dinner out tonight.

The tour company for our Ireland trip has a chat feature on the app linking our group. Some intros and discussion has started. Someone said 25 in our group plus the guide. We may be traveling the furthest.

Hard to believe another plane tragedy. More tragic in a different sense is reading those spewing that they are related.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

maybe a very good idea they put some light on the plane, though of course that also makes it a target for bad guys.
quite a plane
our presidential helicopter is also impressive, looks like a flying tank

I think there is a replacement in the works for this plane.
I wonder if the new office of government efficiency will take offense at this huge expense.
maybe everyone should just zoom from now on.............;)
now is when we find out whose sacred cows get protected, I believe the herd is pretty large...

need to go out and get some fresh air before it gets colder.
had to print out some tax documents, my main bank 1099 got posted online, so have that ready for
my brother who will likely come over tomorrow morning to finish my taxes. I'm going to enter the info and see
if he can find any issues.

I have not done any Geocaching in a few years. It was fun to do when visiting a new area.

Good Saturday Afternoon to the GM thread!

I'm glad to report that my friend is recovering at home. He is walking and we spent about 30 minutes talking. He said the Docs have told him it would be about 4 months before he could say he was 'recovered'. A very lucky guy. One thing that really sticks out. The medical problem that started all this was serious but that was dealt with by a competent surgeon and should have resulted in a month of recovery at most aftr the surgery. The complications arose from infections that he got while in the hospital. This seems to be a problem I hear more about all the time.

So, we are at 66°F this afternoon. Bright sunny day with only occasional slight breezes. I better put out the flags!

I also need to do some trimmimg and a little yard clean up. Hope everyone has a great afternoon and weekend!

Prayers for our Nation!

RNG
Was a big Filemaker fan about 20years ago when they got crazy with the $$. These days I’m into Numbers. Lots of capability over a text file, but sometimes I even just use the text. I like being able to link cells to other sheets and the Categorize function. Recently I toyed with doing financial projection over a years time involving 8 variables that could also be constants.
