Gooseneck on bumper?

Just wondering if I can pull a gooseneck with the ball on my pintle hitch. I found a good deal on a trailer but I haven't got the hitch set upon the truck. Empty trailer, just to get it home.

Just find someone to haul it home or buy it and ask the seller to store it for a week while you get the hitch installed.

I don't think the leg jacks will raise enough to allow it to hitch to the ball mount on a bumper. And if it would you would probably be riding on the front axles wheels only and may rub the fenders or deckover. Also if something happens it would be denied by insurance. Just not worth it anyway you cut it.

Ya take pics If you have a one ton truck and doin back roads to get it home a short distance it should work if its a small or medium size gooseneck, not a 40 footer!!

I saw 2 guys with a 3/4 ton ford pulling one like that with an old jet fusalage sitting on it. Ithey had a 6" or so drop hitch turned upside down so it actually was a 6" rise with a 2 5/16 ball on it and a dual tandem gooseneck trailer mounted on it. I can't see how it would be any different that a bumper pull as long as the weight was ballanced correctly. Later, Nat

Adjust your GN coupler to go all the way down, install a drop drawbar upside down with the ball flipped so it's as high as you can get it, and tow it home. Seen it done a few times and done it once myself.

You need the standard stuff like safety chains, lights hooked up, brake controller working, etc. And of course, this needs to be a hefty hitch setup on a 3/4 ton or larger truck.

Drive slow and be safe.
