yep.. a criminal bold enough to enter an occupied home is a dangerous one. He knows there is a likelyhood of encountering the people dwelling there.. and he still chooses to go in... In some states.. like florida.. the thief more or less checks his 'rights' in at the door...And I'm fine with that.. and glad I live in a self defense friendly state like florida. If it's a case of 'you or me'.. then if i can help it.. it's gonna be you ( getting it )..

Love that Castle Doctrine we have here in Michigan. It gives the good guys a decent measure of protection from such things.

The question that was first asked was why this person was out. That's a good question.
Our small town newspaper reported on some guy that had just served 17 years for homicide of a police officer, was released, stole a car, got chased by the police, wound up at someone's house--except that the someone held him at gun point until the police arrived.
Same question---homicide of a police officer and he's out? Should have been executed 17 years ago--IMHO.

The wife and I experienced a rather odd situation about 3 AM this morning when we were awakened by yelling and screaming that sounded just out side the bedroom right in the front yard.
I thought I was dreaming at first until my wife woke up saying what in the heck is that.
Come to find out a guy was walking up the other side of the Road yelling and cussing at somebody in a car driving slowly by.
Must have been a guy and his old lady having a fight.
The car pulled of the road a couple of hundred yards up the road and the guy got in the car when he got up to it and the car drove off and that was the end of it.
Made me think of Double Orange being ambushed.
A scary uneasy feeling to say the least.

Funny I was just wonderin the same thing while setting on my back porch last nite just before bedtime.

WOW! I don't knwo how I missed this thread until now. I am afraid of guns, all guns. Now I'm not against others who own them (well except for the bad guys) but it is not for me. I feel very safe over here. I Googled for homicides involving guns in France and this is what I found- Google Answers: Per capita violence in the world
I did buy a driveway alarm and we do have a home security system that we only turn on when we are away overnight. When we build a mill I will have video survellience as there will be expensive oil kept there as well as having a cash business. We have one driveway in and only one. The hillsides are very steep so all we really have to protect is that one entrance. I cna't imagine what it would be like to be assaulted on my own property, hope it never happens.

I own several firearms. I never fear them. What I do fear--movements like the Khmer Rouge. Groups acting as legitimate governments manage to murder people in the millions. It will happen again. People forget history. They look for a protector. The protector kills them. I will take my chance with thugs. I had rather not leave to chance dealing with jackboots in the middle of the night.
