Wife and I went to canton ohio yesterday.
Stopped at a road side rest area.

The no guns allowed sign on the rest room door gave me an uneasy feeling.

it was a real creepy felling seeing the welcome attackers robbers and other thugs sign on the door.

I performed one of my civic duties today. I went to the fireing range and re qualified for my concealed carry permit. In arkansas when your permit is expiring you have to have a Licensed Concealed carry instructor certify that you still know how to fire a firearm safely and that you can hit what you are aiming at. It is not an unreasonable requirement in my opinion The license is good for 5 years. I do not shoot a pistol very much any more and it was a good chance to get some practice in various shooting methods. Now all I have to do is send in a copy of my CCpermit, the paperwork the instructor filled out, the money for the small fee and I am good for another 5 years

My take is Double Orange had visited this site at least once maybe several times and saw the creeps picture on there prior to being ambushed by this guy so naturally agent orange would recognize the jerk during the confrontation.

Such sites are public information and are accessible to anyone with a computer.

We have such a site here and I'm sure if I viewed it today and viewed some guys picture on it today and had a confrontation with him later I'd know who attacked me.

I would love to visit Holland. The people I met from Holland seemed very friendly.
But here in the good ol' USA we have our share of criminals, and even worse, our share of those who are more concerned with the criminals' rights than the victims rights. I live in a state that allows law abiding citizens to carry a concealed weapon and allows the death penalty for those scumbags that deserve it (we proudly fried Ted Bundy). I doubt I will get much argument from fellow Americans on this Tractor thread.

There are criminals in Holland too... But i think less violent crimes. Its impossible to tell if that is a result of gun posession or not... All people deserve to spend some time in jail to think over their deeds before they go to the Final Judgement... But for some scumbags i do think its better to help them get there sooner....

Someone who takes a blind shot in the dark is the unsafe person, as you should clearly Identify your target before shooting.

A friend of mine in school made one from high pressure PVC. He could punch holes in sheet steel traffic signs in just 2 or 3 shots... Imagine getting such a potato in your stomach.. It could cause even more damage than small pistols



How easy is it actually to own a gun ? Do you need a permit ? if so, what are the regulations to comply to ? Certificates of mental fitness ? a clean criminal record ? I'm just curious.

I've made dozens and dozens of the spud guns. Heck, we even ended up creating a design that kept the igniter from getting fouled from the hairspray or WD40 used for a propellant. After trial and error we also found the most efficient length of the barrel as well as the most efficient size and length of the combustion chamber. My "357 Spud" made from schedule 80 PVC pipe (the gray stuff) has fired thousands of rounds. It will launch crab apples or spuds well over a thousand feet. Most other produce seems to turn into a spray when fired. Eggs or tomatoes come out as a big mist.

My wife says I'm not right since the time she came home and an old buddy from college was in the front yard with me firing spuds at me and I was trying to catch them with a catcher's mitt. Man, do those things ever come at you fast and are the ultimate knuckleball!! I did end up catching a few, which exploded in my glove upon contact. And, yes, I got nailed several times in the process. It feels about like getting hit by a really large paintball. I wouldn't want to use one as any defense weapon. Other than really surprise and tick someone off, it won't be good for anything but a plastic club after the first, and only, shot. I believe DoubleOrange would have been far better off if the crazed fool would have been packing spuds.

Here in the state of Pennsylvania you walk into the gun store with your drivers license and social security number and money. They call the state police to check if you are a criminal and 15 min later walk out with a long gun. For a pistol there is a waiting period and a more complete background check. I think it is weird that you can buy the gun without any proof that you are qualified to use it. If you want to hunt you do need a license and you have to take a hunting safety course.

You can buy lots of things without proving you are 'qualified' to use them...

In many states.. ig you have a CCW, you can walk out in 15 minutes with the 'short' guns as well.
