I don't have a Welder yet but this was the one I was going to start out with. I don't have 2k to learn how to weld. Tractors keep me poor.

I've run a lot of welders in my life. Mostly Miller engine drives. In 1982 I paid $9,378.00 for a Miller engine drive. Never was impressed with that machine! But I didn't cry like a little baby:hissyfit:, and demand my money back. I worked with it, and made it work for me. Sure I could have bought a similar Lincoln, but they were $3,000.00 more.

Shield Arc's Post , #210 , Sums up my :2cents: on this thread and OP thoughts and motivation .

There are some Members here that I read their posts and threads almost like religion . Simply because they are taking the Time to share Their experience with everyone . Shield Arc , ArcWeld , Gary Fowler . Mark from Everlast just to name a few , all have likely forgotten More about welding than most of Us will ever know , They have even gave me advice on my welder and welding , even though I have a Longevity welder , ( Yea , a competitor giving advice to a customer with another brand , Thanks Mark  ) . To call them names is just dragging down any credibility that OP or the other guy may have to begin with .

Me on the other hand , call me whatever you want . I have thick skin , I own my own semi , so I have been called just about everything , I just laugh  .

This is just a " Thank You " to those I listed Above and to Others I did not list Who also Contribute and Help those of Us who are not as blessed with welding knowledge as they are .

Yikes,
I just looked up the pa200, $350 bucks!!!! Ahem, I know expensive or too much money is relative to any one individual but if time is money it's cost the op $150 just for this thread.
A couple of years ago I gave a friend my old Hobart because I didn't really have room for it after buying another machine. Screwing around for a few bucks j-u-s-t ain't worth the hassle.

And where does this crapping on Shield come from?
I gotta say though it's uncalled for.
I wouldn't know Shield if I ran into him on the street, but I read anything Shield writes about enre to welding very attentively and absorb as much as I can. And I must say he spends an inordinate of time trying to help those of us with lesser skills.
If Arc says it's me and not the machine.......I'd take that to the bank.
Go burn some rod and learn how to weld mister.

Jeez, 300 bucks and probably closer to $150, I thought we were talking about money.

It appears that this thread has started to go over the same material without introducing new viewpoints.

Let me try:
Here in California (the other CA) there is a private group that goes around to businesses and observes their compliance with government-mandated handicapped rules. If they find the slightest error a lawsuit is filed. They are able to get rich themselves and cost businesses a great deal of money to comply whether the "violation" is debilitating or not to handicapped people. The cost of compliance is passed on to the consumer.

From an earlier post several pages back it sounds like a private group in Canada did exactly the same thing with certifications. That is, investigate for compliance without evidence of any wrongdoing or injury. They found a wrong sticker, forged or not, on specific machines so alerted the government. No evidence of anyone being electrically shocked or fires being started.

If Everlast Canada was wise then it would just send out new and approved stickers and tell consumers to attach it their machines. If there is something specifically and legitimately wrong with the machines then a recall / fix / reissue would be appropriate. But an actual machine fault hasn't come up in this discussion. What is exactly wrong with these machines? Is it only a sticker compliance issue?

Some people might find such groups laudable when it serves their agenda. Others find them despicable.

These "watchdog" groups are out for their own gratification, whatever that is. From my point of view it is like the driver in the fast lane of the freeway who goes the speed limit or less "for the good of all" even though there is plenty of room to pull over.
