Got around to adding chain hooks for the 1025R

Ro, the big issue with just using only the center hook on these small tractors is the lightweight construction of the buckets, the center is pretty weak compared to where the loader arms attach.

The longer the chain used between the side hooks, the less side load imposed on them. Remember, these machines can only lift 800 pounds or so!

Statically KennyD is (as usual), dead on. The other big issue, however, is side2side stability. If you allow a heavy object to build up sideways momentum then it can grab the 6' long lever arm (the length from the end of the bucket back to the FEL arm attachment point) that you so graciously provided and twist your tractor right onto its side. The problem is compounded by the fact that the reason the load shifted to that side is probably because the tractor had shifted/rotated in that direction already.

For example: Your right rear tire drops into a pocket and rotates your tractor 10 degrees to right pretty quickly. That's bad enough (I hope your bucket was low), but then that 1000lb stump swings 10" (shifting weight to the right... Worse) and then gets stopped as the center-tied chain and bucket arrest it's movement. You now have a relatively big shock load to the right at the end of a long lever, in a situation already less than stable in that direction. The taught chain grabbing the load from the edges of the bucket really helps shrink that side2side shift down to an inch or less.

Since the load rating on the chain and hook are an order of magnitude higher than the load levels in question, the static side loads aren't a problem for the chain/hooks. The load stability, however, is a huge win and the fact that you don't bend your bucket is a really nice bonus. :)

Can I make the assumption that you are the Ken that he ordered the hooks from? If so, would you please provide a link to the site where I can order some as I would like to put a pair on the bucket of my FEL when I receive my new tractor next week. That sure looks like the easy way to move the dead wood that I need to re-locate on my property. Thank you.

Thank you. After I read some more of the posts I found the link to your site. Very nice looking parts. I will be receiving my tractor sometime next week and will then take a good look at the bucket to see exactly what I need. Should be placing an order shortly. Don't even have the tractor yet and am already looking at ways to make it more functional for my needs. Guess that's the fun part of it.
