Real nice looking machine. And WOW is all I can say about where the hard and soft line meet under the frame! How far does the hard line hang down without any protection? It most certainly is the Achilles heel of that setup. And, unfortunately I think even with the box surround that is going to cause problems for you and many others. If it were me I'd want to find a way to get all that rerouted so none of it hung down under the frame members. It might take some doing but once done it's not there to worry about. I remember shortly after getting my first Kioti I was digging test pits for the soil tech for my barn and as they walked not too far in front of me a small recently cut sapling hit just right and disconnected a QD under the floorboard near the right side step. I lost control of the pedals and could not control forward movement and da*m near ran the tech and my builder into the ground. I mention this because it has happened several times over the years to the point some of us designed and implemented a skid plate to protect from this occurring; AND it is in a way less accessible spot than what your pics reveal to be the case on your new tractor. You're not slamming anyone, you are being a contentious owner with reasonable concern. If you had not said anything and then ripped out the controls under your feet then you'd be called negligent for not knowing this was possible.... sometimes you can't please them all...:confused3:

I got a call from the dealer's mechanic and the leak has been fixed. He said it was pretty buried so I should not feel bad about not fixing it myself.

He was a bit vague on the problem and when I pressed him he said there was an o ring that had been accidentally cut during the installation of the rear remotes that needed to be replaced.

Good news is it's fixed and I will have it back soon. He tested the leak down on the tilt and said it's within specs. ...oh well.

Also he added a small piece to the rear of the cover he built for me for the of the 3rd function hoses below the tractor. Cool.

Actually the dealer and the main mechanic and the delivery driver I've dealt with have been great to deal with. That is why when I bought the tractor I took a slightly worse quote than another dealer gave me. This dealer's rep is the best in the area and we both know he'll get alot of money from me over time so he'll keep me happy I am sure.

For those that don't think they'd catch those hoses as they don't drive through brush, think about how much the tractor can sink down when you spin a wheel good. Or look at the wear marks on the bottom of the cover he built for me and how short a period of time I had the tractor. Seriously, how exposed those lines are on the L60 from Kubota is crazy and I highly recommend protecting them. The tractor already has places to mount a plate/box and so maybe Kubota will come up with an optional skidplate at some point to go along with the 3 rd function kit.

I had a similar problem with my L5740 develop a few weeks after I got it last year and the dealer picked it up and replaced the damaged O rings, no charge for the 80 mile round trip pickup and return. Sometimes paying a bit more up front pays off in the long run.

Comparing the hydraulics on the L40 and pictures of yours, I can see the potential problems and hopefully you can get it all sorted out, maybe Kubota will come up with something as this is the first production run; good luck with your tractor.

They brought the tractor back out to the new property so I drove out there today and spent about 5 hours on it.

What a joy to drive. Quiet, smooth, strong, and less stink. Hose routing still a pain, and I had to stop every now and again to pull sticks out of places I didn't want them. But the tractor itself is a blast and I am loving it.

I stopped every now and then to check for leaks and I am glad I did. Where the dealer routed the rear hoses (was was slightly different this time than before the repair as verified by pics I took) one of the rear hoses was self destructing very fast (just a few hours using that implement at time of pics).

The hose from the bottom of the tilt cylinder was catching on the top of the cylinder and getting squashed on the right side of the cylinder as the 3ph went up and down. Even that quick the hose sleeve and rubber was cut away right down to the metal in the hose. And on the right side, the paint on the cylinder was worn off and I think the couplers on the tractor would have been damaged if I didn't notice it as the hose was getting absolutely smashed into the couplers on the upstroke of the 3ph.

As a stop gap I rerouted that hose from the lower tilt cylinder to at least get it out of harms way. Who has tnt on a l60 that will show a better routing on the hoses?

So pics are: Routing from dealer when he returned the tractor after repair (slightly worse routing than when he took it back, but even before it was squished on the cylinder), where hose was getting cut on left side, the hose itself (doesn't show in pic, but down to bare metal on hose), and where it was getting squashed tight on right side of cylinder, and my temporary reroute of that one hose.

Also I am going to have to rethink the routing of the BB hyrda lines, as as sometimes the hoses touch the inside of the tire as I drive.

after_hoses.jpg Hard to see in pic, the hose from the lower tilt cylinder goes to the top right coupler.

Your dealer needs to check stuff better before they let it out the door.

Makes you wonder, as all they had to do was work the 3ph up and down and the problem was obvious.

The lighting is weird in the pic, but if you follow the lower tilt cylinder hose it actually goes to the top right. Hard to see.
