so this guys attitude is the same as the kids Hey as long as it still works I can cause any damage I want as long as it still functions.

Dont put words in my mouth. I never said it was all right to do what ever damage you want to someones machine. What i said was im glad i didnt have to work for idiots who get all upset and go blabing all over the internet when ever there is a small, insignificant scratch on their tire caused by the work i did. Look at the big picture man... As most of the recent posters have. Enjoy waxing your rims.

That little mark on the tire is not "damage" at all. That's why I wanted a picture, that little mark is pretty trivial. I take GOOD care of my tractor, and I like for it to look good, but this is not serious at all.

Also most implements (nor even tractors) spend much, if any time, in a dealer showroom. They sit outdoors. So if you want a snowplow that looks like it has never been outdoors, you'll have to pay for it. Getting a few hundred off because there is some rust or fading on the mount sounds like a great deal to me, in fact, that's the kind of deal I look for, not used, but a little faded and save a few hundred bucks!

And if what you are looking for is a show tractor, I got no problem with that, but you are going to have to look far and wide to find a typical dealer who can even comprehend what you are wanting.

Have to agree with the others, this is pretty insignificant. Let it go. Move on. And if that dealer really can't meet your needs, keep looking and find one who will.

And since you keep your tractor looking so good, let's see some pictures of the whole thing. I love nothing more than a shiny, good looking tractor.

Now having seen the pictures of the gash, i only can surmise what happened. Since you are extremely lucky that the gash is in a spot where it will wear away in time from seat time.:D I am sure your anger will wear away as the gash wears away and life is short.Anyway, now you have a new toy, you get to play with it and you saved money in the process. ;) How about a a new thread about your new plow and knowing you wax your rims, you probably have ideas on how to make it look like new.:p Sorry a out the next dealer didnt work out for you though. It happened to me couple times.

Ficord,

I think most people are reacting so negatively because we all know "that guy". You know - the one who is a PITA and that no one wants to deal with. Whether fairly or unfairly - after reading the facts of the post and seeing "the gash" most people are placing you in the PITA category. I'm also assuming that the kid who said "so what" had already placed you there as well. I don't think anyone here feels that its really ok to damage someones equipment as long as it still functions correctly. It's just that our idea of damage and your idea of damage is miles apart. Most posters would not have even looked twice at the tire or even flinched if they saw it happen in person. Enjoy the tractor and I guess you got your answer, only a little harsher than expected. "No - you should not say anything" Continue posting and don't let my or others negative reactions run you away from TBN. Everyone is here to help for the most part as you've probably found from your previous posts.

Let's just hope that a picture of your tire doesn't show up on the wall of your service dept titled "THE GASH" :D

N80 I agree with you but the plow was in good condition Faded paint is no problem I can WAX it HA , I get tired of just waxing the rims round and round. The plow to WAX will give me a new purpose in life. Pluss a new look outside when I sit in the tractor on the lawn just idling to rack up the hrs.
The neighbors will say look now he's waxing the plow.

The mount was sitting outside in a box of water it needs to be sandblasted and painted nuts and bolts all rusted. I agree a saving money on the plow is better But that was the only mount around till Feb. It would of been easer to just mount it on the tractor and WAX it . Instead I have to get it sandblasted and painted and then wait at least 30 days before I can wax it.
My wife came in the garage a couple of weeks ago and asked why I had the seat out I said because I'm waxing under the seat, this is true.
I have a cab and when everything is waxed I can jut blow the dirt off.
I have all those hrs on it because when I'm WAXING I love the smell of diesel

Like I say, I've got nothing against a shiny tractor and I'm serious, we'd love to see some beauty shots of your machine.

If the nuts and bolts on the plow mount are rusty I might be concerned about that. I don't worry too much about appearance but if the exposure wear affects functionality or maintanence then that's a different story. Of course, we'll need a picture of the plow mount too.;)

I own a used car dealership/ Garage for 28 years we do all repairs on American and Foreign and cars and light trucks Anybody would be fired in a minute if they had the attitude of these guys.

Whether its a car . a boat a farm tractor if its not yours and your working on it treat it with respect.

So you can use your tractor without damage , but if someone is going to damage my tractor I want it to be me not the mechanic working on it.

I can say that it's hard to get a good person. Real hard. In fact, it's gotten so hard that many punks with the same attitude as the "kid" can stay employed. It's a shame, but a fact.

I selected the above quotes from your post, because they sum up nicely the center of the issue. Especially the last one! Battle scars should have tales of valor attached to them! (Wanna hear about the dent in the hood from the downed tree that flew over the FEL bucket?)

I've come to expect that every time I have a mechanical problem addressed on my tractor it's going to come back with another dent or scrape. I had a hydraulic seal repaired and the guy whipped out a big rusty pipe wrench and carelessly destroyed some nice orange paint. That bothers me. I do my own work when I can.

I don't think some realize that we're not all in it just for the work the machine can do. Tractors have put a twinkle in my eye since I could see and I want my tractor to be a show tractor in 40 years when I pass it down to my grandkids.

Sometimes more seat time is required to do a job without putting scratches on the machine. That doesn't bother me.

Neither dose it bother me when my slip clutch fails and the tractor goes from 2600 RPM to 0 in 1 second. I figure if it has to be split to be put back together (some day) then it will have character.

But, when you're tractors making you money, I think the attitude changes to something like, if I can ever kill this one my next ones going to have more power.

It's just not nice to have careless people with the "it's just a tractor" attitude disrespect your machine and forgo the little extra effort after you let them know you care. I guess, it's really not about the scratch.
