Lumber peaked in August. It has fallen around 45% in commodity pricing since then.

Prices will be falling here shortly.

I hope so, have a few projects I'd like to do soon but prices have kept me from starting them.

I think production has slowed with lumber products due to the prices. Which means it'll take longer for the lumber yards and hardware stores to work through the expensive wood to move to the cheaper wood. Although I haven't seen the stocks refilling yet either. I ordered my yards last 24 sheets of plywood and picked another dozen 2x8's myself because the limited stock they had left was pretty sorry looking.

I bought a sheet of plywood at a small local yard last Friday. They told me that they saw a reduction in their latest order. Keep in mind though that lumber futures aren't controlled by the mills; rather, by commodity brokers just like oil or pork bellies.

depends on how much inventory turnover happens, but large buyers like Lowe's use this metric to purchase future stock.

Just picked up another 10 sheets of 15/32 plywood, down to $30 and change. So that saved me 50 bucks right there.
