I'm surprised to hear that. I don't weld MIG, but I thought I had heard that CO2, being a more reactive gas, was way hotter than Ar.
Gotta new barn, getting ready to learn some welding, which welder should I pop for?!?

I have never ran 100%CO2 so I cant compare.

With 100% CO2 you will get a touch more splatter, but a hotter puddle, plus it is cheaper than a mix.
Using 100% argon for Mig welding steel is really not recommended, for aluminum yes. It will keep you more in a globular transfer. Add a little CO2 to get into short arc, C-25,(75% argon with 25% CO2) is a good all around mix for short arc. Add more volts, and a little oxygen to the argon mix to get into spray transfer.
I played with some C-10 to see what spray arc transfer was all about. Some people use C-5, or 98% argon with 2% oxygen for spray transfer.
