Island tractor, you make sense, the straight would be ok for the berry bushes, with that said I do like the way your bottom tines curve up, thinking that curved would be the ones to watch for. I've never seen curved bottom tines except on the Millonzi. I know Gator has straight bottom tines and I believe WRLong does too. Kinda odd. I'd love to know why these companies used straight tines. I cannot think of an advantage of straight over curved but I've never actually used a straight tined grapple.

Islandtractor, ANBO GR series, and Borgford Grapples have curved bottom tines, both company web pages have some pretty good info, to get that curved bottom tine I would pay extra. ANBO GR-M 72" weigh 370lbs the 48" 270lbs.

And clearly these can have a metal plate or a grate put between them for picking up things that otherwise might fall out

BTW, still waiting on Kioti to deliver the valve to my dealer so I can get the grapple installed and use it!

Coyote, That Igland is one mean doing machine, I need something wider but thinking adding it to my mix might be a good idea. Only live once so might as well live life with lots of great equipment and attachments. Room, I need more land!

These are clamshell grapples. Notice that without the upper jaw clamped, nothing will stay in the grapple. I don't like that style as it limits how much you can load and essentially prevents you from cruising around loading bits here and there. You need to take one bite and then hold it until you unload the grapple.

What I mean by curved bottom tines would be if the GR-L or GR-M had bottom tines that extended horizontally forward about another two feet and still had that type of curve. To me an ideal grapple would look like the letter capital C with the bottom long enough to hold stuff with just the aid of gravity when the upper part of the C was open.

That is still a very specialized grapple for the logging industry. yes, it could be adapted for general use ($$$ or hrs of time) but it is very clearly built to grapple long objects like logs and trees. It is not set up to dig or to trap brush or dig rocks or carry a lot of smaller debris.

About $350 as I recall. I liked it fine. Busted it on a tree branch last year and haven't quite figured out how to repair it yet. Made of some odd ball ABS like (but not ABS) plastic and I cannot find appropriate plastic welding rods for it.

Why not use fiberglass for the repair- wouldn't it stick to the ABS like material?
