Grapples- horizontal tine vs. "grapple rake" vertical tine

Actually the 2 denotes a 48" jaw opening. The rest are 70" openings. A "D" at the end of the model number denotes a dual lid.

I guess I did not say that clearly, the point I was trying to make is that 2 did not mean 2 lids. D means 2 lids, all others are single lid whether they have no special designation or a designation of 2. I wonder who makes up these model numbers.

I have had a WrLong RBG-2 60" for a number of years. I got in in the 60" wide size so it would be the width of my front tires. That's helpful when pushing out an area of debris. It's the perfect size for what I need to do. It works great!

I agree, Rake grapples should be as wide or wider than your tires for many people. That way on the forward Rake it clears a path for your wheels to keep a consistent tine depth into the soil. On the back rake (clean up), it rakes out your tire tracks. Most Rake grapples will have many teeth on the lid for back raking

Andy, our 60" grapple rake weighs approx. 420 pounds and the 72" is 460.

I don't have one to measure and give you a number right now, but it is fully closed in the video and in some of the pics on our website.

I have a lot of trees that need clearing out in-between and I do not necessarily have to have a road in-between them or be able to drive between them. What is wrong with making two passes with a smaller grapple in the areas that will be a road/trail? I usually just work on one clump of Youpons at a time anyway and the extra width will just be tearing up group that doesn't need clearing and take away the concentrated digging power. Am I missing something?

Nothing is wrong with multiple passes if it works for you. I was just trying to explain why the Rake grapples are often wider than L bottom grapples.
