Grasshopper mowers

I've been pining over a new one now all weekend because of price and just like that, a clean used 928D falls into my lap. Patience really is a virtue! It only has 322 hours on it and is a 2009 with seat upgrade and 61 side discharge. The one thing is doesn't have is the power fold, is that an option you can have added? How hard is the manual fold feature to use?

It is not hard after you figure how to do it. If I am not mistaken there is a retrofit for power lift.

Yes, you can add the PowerFold lift kit to it.

The 928d is a great machine. I demo'd one and loved it. Lots of power.

Jump on it!

You will love that 928D. Good choice!

WOW, first post in 8 years😎 I bought a 729 new in 2006, it came with the 3 cylinder liquid cooled Kabota, 61" PowerFold deck and collection system. It's been a great mower with few problems. It now has 1650 hours. I mow 11 acres here on the farm and in the interest of spending less time mowing I just added a 72" PowerFold and the new premium seat (which is like riding on your couch). Spring and fall I can used the 61" deck and collection system for clean up and the 72" for the summer for speed. IMO it's the best mower made (built like a tank). The PowerFold deck makes it a breeze to clean and change the blades. I know they aren't giving them away but I would recommend them to anyone (as long as it was a front mount).

Well, that may have been your first post in 8 years, but you made the most of it. Great post and great mower. I've got the 729BT and love it.

Now, if he can just learn how to spell "Kubota" he will be all set! lol

I picked up a very slightly used (less than 800 hour) GH 725D at the end of the mowing season for I think $5500. That mower new would probably run you 10 - 13k. It had power lift deck.. very nice. I also bought a GH 60" dozer blade for it to clear snow.

You want to talk about a snow moving machine. I would bet money I could clear my drive (at that time it was about 300 feet) faster than someone with a plow truck counting the parking areas etc. I could plow full speed up and down with ZTR capability. I could plow my entire 8 neighbors in less than an hour all had long drives.

If you buy a GH get the dozer blade; you will be amazed at what 1,300+ lbs (with me on it : ) of ZTR will do. You will never want to plow with a quad or tractor again.

I will agree with this statement on the blade. It won't win the award for moving the biggest mass of snow but it will move alot of smaller amounts in a very quick manner.
If it's under 8" in Southern Illinois it does well with it.

I have also used my grasshopper and blade to grade rock or dirt in tight places, it works well on loose material.

Does anyone know what the difference between the 928 and 930 besides the hood and 2 hp? As far as I can tell the 930 is just an updated 928, still using the same engine and hydro.
