Dunno about all the various designators but I bought:

3/4" Road Mix - $5.30/yd
Reject Sand - $3.65/yd

Plus $85 delivery for dump truck and trailer, if you have just the truck I think it was $65. You can get up to 13 yards or so each on truck and trailer for that flat delivery fee... so it pays to max out. I live about 5 miles away but the delivery charges are done by 'areas' not road miles. If you don't get a full load you are usually paying more for delivery than the product.

I just bought 10 yards of class 5 gravel for $11.00 yard delivered, How many yards are in a ton? or tons in a yard? class 5 packs good and is about the best grade of gravel we can get here in Mn.

Bindian, You may want to check with a couple of the rock pits around Dolen Tx, (Dolen, Tx is hole in the wall town about 8 miles south of Shepard Texas) The last I brought down there was around $14 dollars a ton for washed river rock.

Regards,

Tim

Tim,
Sweet.:) I just put it together. Dolen Gravel Pits! We used to fish and camp:cool: there when I was almost too little to remember! As I remember, they hauled a lot out at night by train. Dad made the comment he couldn't tell it it was train noise or my cousin snoring! Can you get me a contact phone number?;)
hugs, Brandi

If you buy stone by the ton, do they adjust the price by moisture level?

I don't know which I prefer, a ton is a ton on a scale ticket, a yard you sort of have to eyeball and hope you are getting what you paid for, but you don't pay for water.

I am paying real close to $22 per ton for #1's and #2's delivered. I just got a quote for 30 ton of #57 limestone (typ. driveway gravel) for $20/ton. Having 950' of driveway sucks!

I just bought 2 loads of Class A gravel, our typical driveway stone in Nova Scotia. It was 34 tons delivered for $520 dollars including tax. I know that the quarry sells it for less that $10 a ton(approximatelly a yard). The stone would be $340 and trucking $180.

30 ton for a 950' drive. I wouldn't think that would be a good start.

Just paid $180 for 10 yards (minimum order) for local, bank gravel. Similar to creek gravel, but with lots of packing sand loam.

That is ALL one can seemingly afford around here. Honest, I am only 2 miles from the area's largest cement plant and they re cycle crushed concrete, but who can afford it? Twice the money. Forget crushed limestone. Out of sight.

To what do we attribute this? Mere inflation of high fuel costs? I dunno.
