I have found that Prices for Crushed Rock go way down when you tell them you will be paying in Cash. 14 tons was $195 or $100 Cash. :D

Here in my part of East Texas, quality road base rock that you can build on is very rare. The only real source is in Terrel, which is about an hour West of here, or halfway to Dallas. Today, the price is running around $22 a ton delivered by an end dump to the job. I'm getting 100 tones for a 330 ft driveway.

Where I live its numbered. The big stuff we use for bases is a #2, then we use a #52 for the next layer. For a top coat we use #10. We can get gravel or stone. It runs about $13.50 a ton and what really stinks is I am within 1.5 miles of 2 quarrys but the cheaper quarry is 10 miles away.

I just priced gravel (sewer line size) by the ton that I will pick up. It is running from $45 to $75 a ton depending who you call locally. This anywhere from landscapers to concrete plants asking these prices. Price it now and it will blow you away, like concrete, on how much the price sky rocketed. I used to pay $20 a ton back in 1997.

Holy (#$&#*#(@ Batman!!!!!!!!!

Concrete doesn't cost that much.....delivered.

Tim,
Thanks for the PM. Romayor Sand, Gravel and Material will not load trailers with sideboards. Their insurance policy says dumptrucks only. It is $15 a ton at this pit. Dolen Specialty Sand Products only has pea gravel right now. Best I can do without hauling for hours is me pick up 2-4 yards at $45 a ton. I hauled it 9.5 miles just now from Cut & Shoot Material yard. I will keep looking for a pit to buy from. These places with yard piles are too expensive for numerous yards of gravel. I even talked to my friend that owns a clay pit here and he said he hauls in 18 wheeler loads when he needs some. But he was out also. Guess I will have to barter a trade.........2 passes for 10 or so yards
hugs, Brandi
