Grease on Joints

I've regularly spray lubed the joints as suggested, but have a LOT of play in the joints after 545 hours on PT-425.

However, the play is due to the ball turning on the bolt! Not sure if the bolt or the ball is worn.

I've continued to spray lube the bolt, also.

At some point, I'll take a bolt out to see what all the wear is.

Speaking of wear. I only have around 101 hours on my PT. I bought the (BIG WRENCH) around the 40 hour mark, for the middle joint. I've kept it tight and greased. I noticed what seemed like a lot of play the other day driving around. And it's as tight as it will go.

Thanks for the link, will be refreshing to use the dry lube, and avoid the collection of dirt and dust that sticks to the front joints when using the messy spray grease lubes. :)

I have had some trouble with the scissors on my Leatherman Surge knife sticking. They don't spring open by themselves. I sprayed some Super Lube on them and they worked for awhile, but then stopped after 20 (just guessing here) cycles. I them tried some Dupont Teflon Multiuse Lubricant. This has worked fine after over 100 cycles. This kinda reduces my confidance in Super Lube. Anybody has a similar or contradictory experience?

Where do you get the Dupont stuff? I switched from Superlube to lithium because I wasn't happy with the Superlube. I'm not sure, but I think the Superlube brand was sold a couple of years ago. I don't think it is the same stuff anymore.

I believe that the Dupont stuff was from Lowes. My supply of Super is about 2 years old. What did you not like about it?

It didn't seem to work as well as the original cans I bought. It just seemed like a different product, and I felt I was starting to get more wear than before. I don't remember exactly who was who, but the new cans seemed like they were made by a different company, but also with the Superlube brand name.

Dear Bob,

You might want to try Lubit-8 or Tuffoil from Fluramics. Ace hardware stores often carry it.

I don't use anything else on tools, unless they specifically call for another lubricant.

I can attest that it can make piece of crap machining move like a swiss watch.

All the best,

Peter
