UPDATE: Based upon the Serial Number, it is actually a 1962! So I guess I should be happy that it benefitted from a couple years of previous production, but I miss the high CDI factor that owning a first year model provides...

Give us more history.. Found implements by moving weeds with rebar... So, was it in a barn that you bought? Was it a purchase from someone that side 'take it all' and you didn't know what all there was.. Let's hear the story

ok, the story:

we had been looking for a woodlot for firewood for a couple years, never quite found what we wanted in the piricepoint, with the accessibility, terrain, and proximity. A couple months ago, this property pops up on Zillow. We had just sold our small business, so we didn’t need a mortgage. Get the lot for a good price. It has a 20x20 shed (see picture for interior shot), which is a plus. And it has a nice level area, with a small branch, so we have a good spot for a Victory Garden. I tell MrsKilroyJC that the Victory Garden would be a lot easier if we had a tractor. We had considered getting a tractor for use at our old business, but just dragged things around with out pickup instead.

mrsKilroyJc likes perusing the local internet buy/sell/swap pages. She spots this Tractor on the page, but it is a little pricey, and after about two days it goes off listing. Oh well.

I guess the deal fell through. Meanwhile, we FINALLY closed on our property, several weeks later than originally scheduled, because seller’s real estate agent promised to complete some tasks that were negotiated in, but by the day of the closing had done ZERO. I guess he figured “Hey, they want the property, they’ll sign, I’ll skate. Ha ha.”

Did I mention we are originally from New Jersey? Yeah, kids from the hood ain’t playing that game...

looked over at our attorney, said “is that a good reason for the check to sit in the drawer?” She said, “Why, yes, it is.” we said, LOCK IT UP and out the door we went.

and so dumb@$$ had to scramble to do all the stuff he was supposed to do, except instead of doing it in clear-but-cold weather, he got to do it in rain and mud.

ha F’ing ha. Don’t mess with Jersey.

so... now we finally get title registered, it’s ours, we go exploring.

in the weeds behind the building are a harrow and plow.

what the heck does a city kid know about plows? Enough to look for a tag. The plow has the tag, Ferguson P-AO-20. Harrow has several layers of different colored paint, no visible tag.

off to the internet. What is a PAO20? Yeah, it looks kinda like that.

what should it have/what is missing? Several posts about leaving them in the weeds if they are missing the tail wheel. I didn’t see a tail wheel.

used a piece of rebar to poke around theough the briar thorns and heard several metallic CLANCKS where the tail wheel should be, so a little digging and poking and yeah, there is a tail wheel. Learned they have a kickstand, too, and when I moved enough dead branches and leaves, it has that, too. It even has the scrapers, which a week ago I had no idea existed or what their purpose was.

Teh InterWebz ain’t ALL bad...

MrsKilroyJC says “Hey, That tractor is back up, and he dropped the price - should we go see it?”

I call the guy, he is less than ten minutes from our house.

long story short, we get the tractor, he includes delivery, we get it delivered a week later, four days later I register here...

today I picked up a 7/8 pin for the top of the plow, and will post more pics when I yank the plow and narrow out of the weeds and dirt. Maybe even video it.

And then we will find out if the discs turn. . .

I can assure you that you have 10 times more tractor with the Case than an 8N....

Hello!

New member here, New tractor owner as of three days ago (I am the “new“ - the tractor is older than me), hopefully I will be able to find a lot of answers to questions with (SEARCH) instead of asking questions that have already been asked & answered multiple times...

Last night, we went out and bought some new 5 gallon diesel jugs, because I hadn’t planned on getting a diesel, but it was just too nice to pass up at the price point. I fully expected to start off with an 8N or similar.

Along with the jugs, an assortment of lynch pins, and hair pins, and roll pins, and PTO pins (someday..) rounded out the shopping list.

This weekend, I plan on yanking the Ferguson P-AO-20 disc plow out of the weeds in the windbreak and seeing if any of the bearing will turn - i Didn’t even know if it was on the plow or not until I proved the dirt with a piece of rebar.

Anywho, I hope I don’t make too much of a pest of myself here. Thanks in advance for any and all advice!
Welcome, you will be amazed by the breadth of knowledge users have and share. And do not be embarrassed when you make a mistake and need advice fixing it. I bet everyone here has made an error when starting out and they look back and think, "wow I bet no one has ever done that before."
