I don't even have a Mahindra dealer anywhere nearby. I have purchased three new JDs since 2007, so I'm doing my part.

TractorErnie sells Mahindras and so does another dealer, i think ValleyView, not sure. Not sure around here, in my neighbor hood, there are only Yanmars, Deeres, and Kubotas. No other brand. It seems up here in the Pacific NW, the top brands are Deere, Kubota, Case IH, and NewHolland/Ford. And there sure are a few Yanmars around too.

what has the highest sales a porche 911 or a ford taurus?

which one is number one? One would be number 1 in sales. 1 would be much higher ranked in performance.

What is number 1 in comfort a cadillac or a honda civic? probably the caddy usually. But the civic would probably be ranked much higher in mpg.

ford f 450 or ranger. on and on.

There are so many ways some company could claim #1

Can you explain that statement?

This one too?

That could very well be, it's anyones guess, but I highly doubt it.

Sure farmers in all developed nations are supported in part by their governments with taxes collected the people as a whole. Leaders know if the people get hungry they will riot.

Second all businesses historically go the way of GM, Oliver, K-Mart.
At some point you should expect JD to decline in market share. What helps JD is they are more of a marketing company (like Wal-Mart) than years ago in that they do a lot of rebadging of other companies equipment instead of designing and building their own lines only. When I bought my Zetor new in 1992 the USA was one of a few countries they were not painted green and labeled JD. :D

Because we know that Deere and Kubota are good tractors, I'd like to know how good a tractor Mahindra is. Do they hold up in the long haul, industrially?

How are the castings, are people buying them and having problems? hydro lines failing, diesel pumps breaking down, injector problems? Are their hp ratings over inflated? Any farmers using them on a daily basis? Not some guy who bought his first tractor and uses it 50 hours a year. Deere's get pounded in the fields everyday, all day long here. Mahindra wants to be number one? Well what does that mean? It's fluff.

That's not exactly true. I can go to a company and say I want your tranny BUT I want it to my specs and I want my quality control people there checking. Another company can have lower demands and just say keep it within this amount. You think Porsche makes their own tires, pistons and glass. They go to Mahle and say give us pistons to these specs. Parting out parts isn't a sign of a company that is cutting corners. All companies part out. Chevy, Ford, BMW, etc.
How do you know that the the machine you bought has the same tolerances as the same one labeled Deere? You don't.
I sold electronic test instruments that I designed. I got parts from Atmel, IR Lumileds, NS, etc. and circuit boards form someone else. I bought on specs and the circuit boards met my specs too. Every company parts out, it doesn't mean anything. What means something is the tolerances they demand from their suppliers.

Farmers here get so little "tax" money that it isn't going to have any effect on the decision of what brand tractor to buy. If you think that farmers don't have the bottom line in mind when buying a tractor I got news for you.

Again you may be right but I doubt it. Deere does alot more designing and building than it does "rebadging". Deere is so much more diversified than most of your examples also.

Couple points on that....
A) I dont follow Mahindra, BUT, I seem to recall that Mahindra gets a certian series of machines from LS, then yet another series from Mitsubushi, and ANOTHER series from some other oriental company (I dunno the excact brands, but you get the gist of what I'm saying) to me Mahindra is nothing BUT a marketing company. What machine is 100% designed & built by mahindra? When I think of Mahindra tractors, I think of a company who bought old outdated designs from US MFG's (IH) and made "knock offs" no different then all those Chinese Honda small engine Clones. Only difference between the two is the Honda Clones LOOK like hondas in weird colors, Mahindra puts nice looking hoods & operator stations on to disguise what they actually are.

B) While the Frontier implements are a perfect example of the rebadging, JD actually "made a brand" for the rebadged equipment. JD branded stuff is JD Stuff. While they might contract someone else to build some of JD Stuff or components, like Rob-D said, its built to JD Spec and is not available anywhere else.

C) Tractors....What JD's are rebranded? By that I mean, what tractor can you buy in a different color thats exactly the same. Even back in the 80's when Yanmar built the 955's and such, there is no such thing as a 955 (or any x55 series) painted Yanmar Red. Or today, doesnt Yanmar build the 3038e? What is the Yanmar version? Oh yeah...there is none.

Yanmar never built any of the x55 series. They only used the Yanmar engines. Yanmar did build the gear models, x50, x70, x90.

Hmm.....More research is warranted. I thought (right or wrong) that the first "in house" built Deere's started with the 4000 series. Again, I could be totally wrong, just what I thought.
Heck I think the 2x20's and smaller are still built by Yanmar....the 3x20 and larger are "JD Built"
