My old tractor had turf tires; it was apparent when they were low on air. I swapped it to R4, with a skidsteer version on the front. Those sidewalls were sooooooooo stiff, that they could get pretty low before it was obvious.

Maybe you were lowish on air, and popped the bead.

I hope you are right. The tire lost must have lost it's air somehow (that's still the mystery to me).
I was probably working the tractor for a period of time with a flat and didn't even realize it.

DoubleL,

Now I get it. Your comment was under my quote so I was trying to figure out how you thought I had wrote mixed messages.

Continue this story. Garage reset the tire. Checked the tire 5 days later and it dropped from 45 to 37 PSI, so I have the dreaded slow leak. Take the tire back to the garage again. Tire has no leaks, holes, slits or anything. Valve and valve stem show no leaks. They believe it's an issue of the bead leaking, so this time they "seal" the bead (it's like a rubber cement they tell me). Take it home and check tire again next morning after remounting and I've lost 4 PSI.

Really frustrating you don't expect a tire to leak air on a new tractor. I saw a Kubota thread that there is a bunch of problems with some tires poor guys like me can't get a tire to stop leaking air.

I'm going to take the tire and wheel off again for the third time and take it up to my dealer this time. I'm hoping they just give me a brand new wheel and tire off another 3040 and let me go home without making another trip. I have a real strong feeling I have lemon tire or wheel. :(

I had a Kubota with leaky fronts..... Both ended up tubed.

I would throw it in a tank of water and watch for bubbles. If you lost four pounds overnight you will see bubbles if you watch carefully.

It may be the wheel that is leaking. I bought a brand new Cragar SS mag wheel and kept losing air. Turned out where they welded the center to the rim a very very small air hole was made from the weld.

Tube it and move on. You will spend more in repeated attempts to fix it than for a tube.

Done, dealer tubed it yesterday no charge and I think I have this frustrating problem finally behind me.

You are exactly right for a slow leak tube it and move on, I've learned this lesson.

I am now an expert at dismounting and remounting front left tire ... looking for a job in Nascar pit row. :D

I had a wheel on a disk with a slow leak that bout drove me and the tire guy at Farmer's CO-OP nuts but he finally found it. It was leaking where the wheel hub was spot welded to the rim. It was so slow immersing in the tank didn't reveal it but he found it with his soap swab.

I would not except a tube from the dealer. That was just a cheap way out for them. Now if you get something like a thorn or something into your tire you got to dismount and patch or replace the tube on you dime. Cant just plug the tire. Why didn't they put the tire in a tank and at least try to find the leak? Probably figured they would find something that would cost more than the tube! Easy way out for them! Who is the dealer?
