I 'm pretty sure Worthington has no animal anything in their products and is marketed as Cholesterol free. They have been that way since I can remember (maybe 43 years). The fats are what I look for on them though, since it is primarily Soy based. I thought I had some in the pantry for a photo, but it appears it has been eaten:laughing:

Western, here is the quote from the web page you listed.

"As the leading brand of vegetarian foods, Worthingtonョ & Loma Lindaョ products are low in cholesterol and lower in fat, especially saturated fat, when compared to their meat counterparts."

Plants do not have cholesterol, only animal products do.
They may be vegetarian but not vegan.
They list egg and milk products to get the cholesterol in.

This food is for the animal lovers, not for the heart disease reversal process.

Oh sorry Brin, has your friend, revealed the marinade recipe?

I was helping a guy out on local website regarding some questions he is about to ask local elected officials. I suggested he use a quote from Mark Twain. Since I suggested it, I figured I better go look for some quotes.

I found a perfect quote for him regarding the subject but it would NOT be helpful if he repeated Mr. Twain's words. :D He found a much better Twain quote.

However, I did find the following Twain quote that made me chuckle and think of this thread.

Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.
Mark Twain

Later,
Dan

Don, that makes sense ,since I wasn't thinking about "egg". duh..
I know they have many products, and quite a few have "0 cholesterol" on them.

Thats the reason I guess scrutiny is so called for these days with all the marketing gimmicks, you really have to read the fine print. Whole Wheat for instance, rarely truly means "Whole Wheat"

Western, we had a class on labels. Apparently they can say anything on a label and only the ingredients on the back in small print have to be accurate. The lesson learned in class over and over again was never ever ever ever believe the labels only the listed ingredients.

Example: Pam is 100% fat but the label says fat free - see - link

Brin, I tried the tofu. I could not find firm tofu only hard tofu. I did the paper towels drying. I could not find the marinade so I used a fat free pineapple/coconut/tequila/pepper/mango sauce, marinating them for an hour. I cooked them for 30 minutes and broiled them for 5. I could not turn them because I would break them apart. The outside was flavorful but the inside was tasteless, The "fries" were not chewy, they were more like scrabbled eggs, falling apart as I bit into them. I guess I'm doing something wrong. This is the first time I've tried to cook with tofu.
