No it is not working. The boging out was a safty switch. I still have no rear wheel drive.

I would have to guess that if you have front wheel drive working right, but no rear wheel drive, there is a breakage internally in the gearing. I know of no way to send power to the front but not the rear otherwise.

OK guys forget the boging out. That was a saftey switch. I have the tires all off the ground and can move the front tires in 4 wheel locked in but can not move rear tires in 2 wheel or 4 wheel.

Thanks for all the help so far.

First, please confirm that the tractor is a BX24, not a BX22 or 23.

I'm trying to get this straight... With all 4 wheels off the ground, in 2wd you can rotate each front wheel? I you hold one still, can you still rotate the other?
Same questions in 4wd, and again with the trans in neutral.

With the rears off the ground, neither will rotate by hand in either 2wd, 4wd or neutral? Is that correct?

One note: On the BX24 and later, the single brake pack works on a transmission shaft, not on the wheels or axles. If you have the wheels off the ground and rotate on tire the other should turn the other way even with the brake on. This is not the case on the bx22 or BX23. They have 2 brake packs. One for each drive wheel output.

Yes, the tractor is a bx24. With all four wheels off the ground I can power the front wheels only in 4 wheel. In 2 wheel I can not power the rear wheels. High or low does not matter. Same result. If I turn the rear tire by hand the other rear tire does not move. I also tried the diffy lock by turning rear tire by hand and it will not engage.

I don't have a workshop manual so can't exactly comment why rear is not working. I'd say something is wrong with transmission. Not sure if gears are stripped or hydraulic flow issue.you need the shop manual or take it to the shop.

As BXpanded said, diff downstream from brake, so should get rear wheel counter-rotation in air...a guess at this point, given limited info, would be diff, based on your statement that diff lock would not engage. Not uncommon for diff lock pin to get broken off and/or cracked carrier from attempt to engage while wheels spinning. Broken parts can then get picked-up by carrier/ring gear. Sounds like front-drive OK...with the two identified issues...no park and no diff lock...you need to focus on these and their possible effect on problem...

Thanks for the help guys. I pulled the strainer and went in side the casing with a magnet and pulled out part of the diffy lock pin. In the process of tearing it apart now. Do I need to be worried about the metal shavings getting into the pump or will the filter catch it? Dont want to tear it appart any farther then I have to.

I'd be as clean as possible since all that protects the first pump is a screen, though a filter cartridge protects the axial piston pump. (The first pump is a gear pump.)

Depends whether we're talking chunks or filings...if damage is as suspected, more likely pieces...but as EE said, can't be too clean...hope damage is minimal and good luck.

Just thought I would post a update for all that helped. I split the transmission and it is the diffy lock pins sheared off and took out two gears in the diffy. Looks like the guy I bought it from did not know how to use the diffy lock. a lot of wear from trying to engage. As for the brake, looks like the brake discs are wore out. Bought a service manual and they are out of spec by .010.
Thanks again.
