Hi, BlueChip,

I felt sleepy & went to bed at 2:00AM lat night.
And I get up at 7:00AM to check my e-mail & go to this Forum this morning.
I could not stay all night without a sleep. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I checked your private information.

Very Happy to find that you were my friend in 2003!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There were some e-mail communications between us discussing about the DongFeng & Benye & Futian Tractor before (in 2003) !!!

I found that in one of your e-mails to me on May 1st, 2003, you have told me that: " Special label for engine is on page 23 of this document. Manufacturer would be ARTRAC unless BENYE has agent in USA handling a TPEM program with EPA ."

Are you still using the e-mail @cox-internet.com ?

I have sent you an e-mail just now.

I agree. I see cars going down the road that smoke worse and run worse than some of my 50+ year old antique gas tractors...

Dear Harry,

You are right! When you American are lossing your own tractor markets, we Chinese are also lossing our Automobile markets to other foreign companies & brands.

If you can drive in our Chinese streets, you may find that at least 50% cars are made by foreign companies or Joint Ventures.
Such as HONDA, TOYOTA, MITSUBISHI, ISUZU, SUZUKI, VOLKSWAGEN, CITROEN, FORD, CHEROKEE, GM, BENTZ, BMW, DAEWOO, IVECO....

We also hate so many Japanese Cars on our roads ! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Almost all our Boeing Jet-Planes & MS-Software & IBM Computers & KFC, McDonald's are from your USA. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

But it's a global market !
No one country can eacape from the global competition.
No one country can close its door and not allow other countries' products enter into its territory. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

In fact, Jinma is not a famous tractor brand in China.

Almost all Chinese Farmers know the Chinese tractor brands such as Taishan, DongFangHong, DongFeng, Benye,....
But few Chinese Farmers know about Jinma & want to buy a Jinma.

Among all the Chinese Tractor Brands, Jinma now is the No.1 selling in USA. But Jinma tractors only occupy a very small quota (quotient ) in USA market.

Andy,

Can you explain why the jimna tractors are not bought by the Chinese? Why are the other models prefered?

Thanks,
Bruce

Based on this forum and info on John's website, I'm considering getting a crated Jinma from an outfit like Tractor Outlet, etc. But I'm now I'm concerned about the import issues described in this thread, specifically if one pre-pays for a tractor. Am I missing a crucial point, or will Andy's hassles apply to many dealers of crated Jinmas in the US? Thx, Tyler

Don't think you missed anything at all Tyler. I can almost see sweat rolling off this topic.

I'd be inclined to broaden your statement, to apply to "exempted" tractors in general. The writing on the wall suggests the exemption is beginning to evaporate.

After getting rid of two Jinmas with 1999 motors, I'm sitting here fat dumb and happy with a 2003-12 motor in my 2004-03 KAMA.

Tyler,

Terry @ Tractor Outlet has been doing this for a number of years. TPEM is not new to him. I don't know, but I bet he is not ussing the 1999 engine exemption. Before writing them off based on this thread, call and talk with him. Ask allot of "what if" questions.

Getting side tracked, but here are my observations on meeting EPA regs for tractors. One of the first steps, seems to be lowering the engine compression, which will lower the overall hp. Then, to get the same hp we need a larger displacement engine (ie tractors are marketed by hp specs, not displacement, like cars). This larger displacement engine, can be made to pass. I believe the requirement is based on %, which takes into consideration how much the engine is breathing. The total amount of pollution then could be the same or possibly higher than the original smaller higher compression engine. Anyhow, that is my view on it.

Is anybody besided me concerned that someone who does not own or want to own a Chinese tractor comes on this site to make disparaging remarks and calls us illegitimate. Looks like Orangeguy owns some tractors that I'm sure would pollute much more than the Chinese.
