Well, there is one way to find out. Hook it up and throw a load on it sudden like.
I suppose.. What kind of load though.. It's not connected to the house... yet.... thats the next step. Right now I am working on the mobility part.
Could I plug a saw into it. Or do I need to go much bigger?
I have sent an email to the manufacture too asking them their opinion.
Worst case scenario... I could just get the pto shaft cut. (thats not that bad)

you need a load near the maximum HP rating of your tractors PTO to test with. so 746 watts per horsepower X however many horsepower your PTO puts out, what? about 19 or so? 746x19=14,174 watts. So no, a small saw is not going to test the torque of your generator.

I'm going to put it on the dolly and get the PTO shaft cut and then connect them. That way it will be connected to the tractor when in use. Don't want to mess around with safety.

So you guys are saying our little under powered tractors can still spin a PTO generator up within the limits of our PTO horse power and be functional to a degree. That is good to know! I have always wanted a PTO genset but figured I would be wasting my money unless I had a bigger tractor.

Thats my understanding. I bought this one second hand. Saved a lot. The person had medical issues.
It's bigger than I can use (now).. but your right when you say its limited by the tractor (in my case).
I didn't want another engine to worry about and the cost for this size was much less than a traditional generator.

Sure it will work to a degree. When the electrical load becomes too large, the generator head will become too hard for your PTO to spin it, and you will have a drop in RPM from the tractors engine that the tractors governor will not be able to overcome, then the voltage output will sag and the line frequency will drop also. But if you keep the load within what your PTO will handle you should be fine. There might be some additional losses over using a much smaller generator that is sized to your tractor from bearing losses, but I would think this would be minimal.

I agree w posters who rec a quick hitch. You don't want to be wondering what an un-attended machine is doing. Is your heavy, wide, weighted, vibrating genset creeping slowly away from the tractor, etc?
Besides, w a quick hitch extending the arms ~3" you might not need to cut the driveshaft. If you do, it's a 15-20 min job. Play it safe since you won't be watching the action.

FWIW, Kubota may offer a "kit" for extendable links for your 2670- I know they did/do for the L3400. I too would be concerned about an unsecured gen set moving around, or worse, so using the 3-point seems safer, at least until you have some experience to go with. Having something go wrong while you aren't there could be a real catastrophe! And, PTO's seem to get easier to install and remove with some practice. And Fluid Film.

Just a thought. Is there anywhere you could set the generator up and leave it connected to the house and just build a little roof or dog house type deal over it. Then you could bolt it down to a couple railroad ties going cross wise or something similar and when you need it you just back up and hook up the PTO.
