No problem Tim, I'm new to the tractor thing, but I know for sure the guys here know their stuff. I learn everyday that i'm on TBN. I get most/all of my tractor info/answers here. Welcome, and good luck with your choice.

Hi, Tim. Some good replies here so far. Only thing I could add is that the greatest advantage for the BX is its size. It can fit into places a B sized unit can't go. To shrink it down like that, there were some compromises... less weight, ground clearance, etc., but it is still an amazing little package.

It sounds like you don't really need that small size for any particular reason, so the larger B would probably give you some benefits with those borrowed implements. Probably not a vast jump in price either.

thanks the mower will be a few years away i hope . i wasn't planning on buying this year but i have some down payment money and with the 0% i think i might make the move .

one more tire questions . are the Turf tires that much better of a ride then the R4's ? and do the R4's really help with tractor in normal homeowner use ( tilling and snow removal ) ?

thanks

tim

I have to be honest, I don't care for turf tires as an "all around tire", so I am the wrong person to ask.

When I recommended bar tires, it was because of the "wet" conditions you mentioned which I assumed was not in your yard. Turfs will "load up" in the mud and become pretty useless. I wouldn't operate ANY tractor/tire combination in a wet yard.

I use R4/Industrial tires on my 2660, 2305 and L5030 as a pretty good compromise and Ag/R1 on everything else; have turfs on my JD425 and combination on my MF375.

I am sure you will get a variety of opinions and I freely admit I am no expert.

thanks for the input K U Gator . i looked at the B2620 and some of the advantages over the B2320 , but the extra expense puts the B2320 at the ceiling of my budget .

thanks

tim

I don't know your situation, but on occasion, if I can find a good used tractor, I will go that route. My last machine was 7 years old with 735 hours on it.

Yes the response has been fantastic . thanks for your help about the difference in sizes . i originally went to the dealer with the BX in mind then he showed me the B series and i explained to him what my plans are and he thought the the bigger tractor would be the better fit . so i put everything on hold for a week to think , research , and scrap together a little more money  .

thanks

YES . i was really hoping to find used but with the finance deals and the high prices of used tractors i think new is my best option . i have been on the search for the past year looking at used and i am usually to late for the tractors ( sold already ) i am interested in or the price is not feasible to me .

thanks

I know what you mean, mine had just been brought in for service when the guy decided to trade and it hadn't even been prepped for sale and I snapped it up or it would have been gone.

I was going to finance a new one and keep my money in the bank, but just too good to pass up.

On maintenance, if you go with a BX, because you would be using it without a mower, make sure the HST fan is protected. The issues with that concern are well documented in this forum. And I suspect working under the B such as changing the oil is a little easier than on a BX due the additional ground clearance. But neither of these issues would sway me on my decision.
