A double chain coupler, ok how does it work because it looks to be just wrapped around the shaft? Randy do you see normal failure or early failure of these?

The chains have long pins (rollers) that connect both sets. In other words, its "2" chains side by side that are linked so they behave as one.

If youre familiar with Lovejoys, this is just another version of that.

Due to the play in the chains and their interaction with the sprockets they can take up any misalignment in the shafts.

They are durable but will make slight noise compared to couplers that use rubber. They will get loose with age, no problem, just oil like you would a chain so they don't rust up solid. Remember, they ARE suppose to move around a little.

My neighbor bought a RTV900 a couple of years ago. Just had Barlows do his first 50 hour service. It has a glass windshield and a top. It has never been in the rain, stays in his garage. Looks new. He told me last week he doesn't use/need it and will sell it for $9500 and he said the new ones are $14000. Just sayin. If interested let me know and I can/will give you his name and number.

Sure glad that one didn't get away:thumbsup: I think it's got almost 80 hrs on it now. I've been down with knee surgery and still checking the mailbox for the papers that neighbor was suppose to find. :confused3:

Scooby thanks for the pictures, that really helps me understand. My owners manual is actually pretty good with lots of illustrated photo's but even though I see it in their pic, they don't mention anything about it. So lube it with ATF every now and then?....that's what is recommended for the chains on my Woodmizer sawmill.

I took a close look at the throttle cable stops on the carb and KT you were right, there is a pedal travel stop on the pedal linkage. The pedal could travel another 1.5" if the stop was removed, but that would not do any good unless you modified the cable stops back at the carb. There is the common "stop set bolt", and also another stop where the cable terminates at full throttle. The bolt is easy, but the one on the cable would need permanent modification.

I'm not going to fool with it until it's out of warranty but I am curious to see what RPM it's running when the pedal it at the stop because the engine sounds at about 50%...plenty of rpm left. The hour/tach meter should be here in a couple of days, & today I am going to GPS the top end speed.

YW.

I likely wouldnt use ATF as it probably would sling over everything (unless you dont care about that). Id probably just use some spray chain lube. It is tacky enough not to sling everywhere.

Gps say's 22Mph. I went out this am(it was 10 degrees) and it started right up. Drove 4 miles each way to a buddy's house and am amazed how comfortable it is in the cab behind the windshield. Most vehicles with an open cab & windshield create a strong draft coming in from the rear, this thing has no draft at all, so without a cross wind it's pretty warm.

Large skid plate is ordered, $131.69 delivered. It covers the rear pumpkin and also the belt & housing. I am going to make the CV boot guards out of diamond plate steel. This is a pick of the factory one's...it doesn't get much easier than this:

I jumped in my buddy's Ranger the other day after driving the Bulldog. The ride of the ranger is much smoother, the Bulldog's suspension is real stiff and not as forgiving as the Rangers. The ranger is a bit wider and longer(and has a better suspension), so that also makes a difference in the ride.

MS,
You can get a little more speed from moving the stop bolt but you are correct, more than a eight or quarter inch and you will need a cable adjustment. I found this this stop bolt by accident when it fell out and I picked up a little more top end. I used silicone spray on the chain, chain lube will sling all over the motor and muffler. I thought about making a cover to put over it but switched to silicone instead.
