Cost is always a consideration... at least with me.

Heck, might as well go on vacation if the power is out if cost isn't a factor.

Moderation generally is the best approach for me.

Having the ability to cover essentials is great... that is doing better than 98% of the public around here.

Thanks Moss for crunching the numbers.

Yeah, I was just trying to figure out how much something like a 20KW generator was going to cost and operate on each of the three most popular fuels. Not begrudging anyone who enjoys 24/7 power up. More power to you.... pardon the pun. :p

7 gallons per hour seems like is a LOT of energy. My V8 pickup uses 4 gallons per hour at 70 MPH on the freeway.

I was not happy with those numbers, either, that's why I went looking. I'd be real happy if someone could post some numbers about LP.

I stand corrected... the fine print is litres per hour.WHEW!!! Gallons per hour is considerably less. I'll post the corrected numbers shortly.

Corrected numbers for gallons of LP per hour( not liters).

Numbers were for litres per hour, not gallons per hour. So the real numbers are below...

Real LP numbers are 1.89 gallons per hour. WHEW! That's better

1.89gph * $2.41/gallon = $4.55/hour * 24 hours = $109.00/day... That's better!!!
$765.00 per week at half load.
2.9 gallons per hour at full load * $2.41/gallon = $6.99/hour * 24 hours = $168.00 per day.
$1174 per week!

Did you once have a job refueling Air Canada jetliners? :)

From:
Gimli Glider - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gimli Glider is the nickname of an Air Canada aircraft that was involved in an unusual aviation incident. On July 23, 1983, Air Canada Flight 143, a Boeing 767-233 jet, ran out of fuel at an altitude of 41,000 feet (12,000 m) MSL, about halfway through its flight originating in Montreal to Edmonton. ...

... Fuel loading was miscalculated due to a misunderstanding of the recently adopted metric system which replaced the imperial system.

So it seems that NG is cheaper than diesel in the summer.
At half load, diesel is $588/week and NG is $467/week.

In winter, diesel is still $588/week, and NG exactly the same.

LP is $765/week at 1/2 load if you bought fuel in the summer. If you have to refill your tank in winter, it could cost a dollar/gallon more, so, you're looking at $1114.00 per week at 1/2 load.

That's considerably more that diesel or NG.
