May as well get my 2 cents in,...so it looks to me like it runs in a few feet of water with a solid base, (known bottom). Hence the rusted wheels and undercarriage, and non baloon tires,..(not worried about traction) perhaps the light(hangy-down) chain holds an implement not too heavy(praps it even floats?) that can be quickly changed off for something else.
"Cranberry" harvesting comes to mind and they have in the past used a variety of implements from high wheeled to boats to pedal powered etc but perhaps some other "water-crop" along the lines of the cranberry sort crop?????
Speakin' of the Everglades, . . could it be for slinging up and draggin' home a large shot (or muzzle-wrapped) Croc or Gator or some such wild idea as that? .....wha-da-ya-say JJ ? (OR is that even legal now-a-days ?)
Heck don't go laughin, . . I'm a Canuck,..wha-da-we-know bout swamps? Well at least our swamps don't often grow crocs and gators,.....on the other hand I surely do enjoy a feed of Gator-Tail down there at Destin's Fudpuckers!!
Since I'm a Canuck, ignorant of such things, I might ask if it could be for carrying bails of cotton in from the field? ...So OK,...what're my guesses worth,...any change from my 2 cents?
CHEERS!
