I'm just posting these pics of the tractor my friend got. It's not running right now but it just a cool little thing. It's a liq cool four cylinder with two chevy transmission and a Ford 9" rear end. Has two brakes and a parking brake. There a build in loader, the frame doubles as a hydraulic reservoir. It might be the same size of a 8n ford or smaller.

I know I hope my friend get it running. I can try to get a few more better pics of it next time I'm at his shop. Sorry we don't know anything about it. Or who made it. But it is build heavy duty.

Look for CONN in raised letters on the side of the block or head.

The distributor and oil filler/breather position looks like maybe an 801 Ford engine. It clearly has a valve cover so it has overhead valves.

Look like a fun project. Not that it really matters, (unless you need to find parts for it, that is), but Ford 9" axles unload their internals from the front. The bolts on the rear of this tractor's axle identify it as something other than a 9" Ford.

Typical Ford 9" housing viewed from the rear:

And from the front, showing how the everything unbolts and drops out:

brokenot: your right on the axles I don't think it a 9" ford I have to take a 2nd look at it again. Those open rear disk brakes are big.

I guest the guy that had it before said if you put the first transmission in high then the 2nd transmission in high it would go over 50mph. Not something I would like to try.

Just wear your seat belt. :D

Actually who ever designed this tractor either had a lot of skills/abilities or would have made a great engineer with the right training. It is not easy to do a project out of materials at hand or from the junk yard. I am impressed.

Funny thing last night I was talking to the farmer brother I help on the phone last night. I said something about this tractor and he said I bet I know who made it. He knew alot about it. The guy that made it work at the same place. Caterpillar shop by Des Moines. He was the head welder for them and retired from there.

It a Ford Pinto engine in it.

I would keep asking around since I am sure he is wrong about the engine.:D

Gale is right. Pinto engines (as I remember) had an overhead cam-meaning that you'd not be able to see the front of the valve cover because the sheet metal timing belt cover would be there.

Is it one of those four bangers that GM used in the Monza, Sunbird and some of those other 4cyl RWD cars?

Gale Hawkins: I look at that tractor you posted on ebay. That might be the motor in the homemade tractor. I stop by the shop. It has to be a tractor engine it has a governor on it.

Plus it has been 70 years since they built a car with a updraft carb .:D

CONN will be stamped on it some where. Ford and MF used this engine for many years but it could have come off a ride at an amusement park, water pump, backup generator, electric welder, etc. There are millions of them around the world.

I like the bucket design! I've always wished my buckets were deeper and not so wide. That makes it a lot more versatile for dirt work.

The operator won't have to worry about heavy brush damaging his fenders.

Judging by the seat, it was a real worker, not just a hangar queen.

The fenders are 1/4 plate steel. It needs a floor pan, you don't want a lose shoe lace. The drive shaft is right by your feet.
