I don't think a vehicle can call itself a truck if a 4' wide plywood can't lay flat in the bed...

Honda was very careful to make sure the Ridgeline bed is wide enough for 4' wide sheet goods.

There was a time when any truck without an 8' bed was not considered a truck... times have changed and many trucks no longer have 8' beds.

I had a El camino years back and I hauled a huge amount of firewood with it. I hauled more than some others did with "real" trucks. It doesn't change the fact that a "real" truck can haul better than the sorta trucks.

A truck doesn't have to have a 4x8 bed floor to be useful. :)

Smaller trucks have been around for a long time.

Hauled a lot with my 1931 Ford... towed the boat too...

Never bothered with sheet goods... simply no way to do that safely.

Even back in 1931 Ford saw the short comings of the narrow bed designed and came out mid production with a wide bed pickup.

The thing to remember is all "Pickups" were originally car chassis.

Question... is a Toyota Single Cab and Nissan Single Cab a real truck?

What about the Mazda, Mitsubishi, Luv and Courier trucks?

I had a 1980 Courier. It was the worst riding vehicle I ever had, and would get stuck so easily. The ride was like the frame was sitting directly on the axles, with solid steel tires. On a dirt road, couldn't drive over about 5-10 mph, even then it was bad. It was a "toy" truck.

I saw a new Ridgeline today...

Have to say it looks well thought out and I liked it.

The 5k towing is a major drawback but if you don't need to tow more or have a larger tow vehicle it could be just the ticket with 280hp.

I have be a fan of Toyota reliability for a longtime but the aggressive styling is not to my taste.

Anyone have a new Ridgeline and care to share impressions?

My wife and I drove a pilot this year in a search for her new car.... itç—´ the same drivetrain. Engine V6 was smooth but seemed to have to turn high rpm to get the job done... transmission was always hunting, engine transmission seemed to be working hard, chasing each other. Felt light and delicate. We quickly cut it from the list... I think ridgeline would be similar. I wouldn’t tow a canoe with it...

I will say, after 2 accords, a civic, and 2 pilots, i did not like the crv dash layout and bought a subaru instead. But the vehicles themselves have been very reliable.

I have not driven old or new model... tow feature is suppose to minimize hunting.

I owned one vehicle that never hunted... it had a powerglide 2 spd auto...

Bare bones and tin can like... we beat one severely hauling rock and gravel... just couldn't kill it back in High School... the owner was always picking up odd jobs... poor truck with half yard of sand or gavel... he let me use it to tow my 1.5 ton Model A Truck Home... that was an experience... but hills and all... got it home.

I had one as well. Bought it new for a ride to work. Awful in snow....down right dangerous. Sold it the next spring.
