I always thought that big hat in your pictures was the Head Guard

Oh well, back to the drawing board I guess. So easy to miss the obvious!

By the way, I have a nice dent in the hood of my B2910, have you found a reasonably priced way to fix your dent?

Mine is not really a dent, more like a very slight dimple...but I notice it once in a while and it kept suggesting that the next one might be something I would see ALL the time... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

When I was tractor shopping I remember a salesman telling another guy at the dealership that they had to be sure to claim against the trucking company for hood damage on a tractor that just came in. He said something like that is a $400 piece of sheet metal... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

A couple years ago I heard the price was about $380, which is why there is STILL a small dent in mine!!!

nice job Henro, to turn the head protector to a shade would be very easy, just strach and lash a tarp, orange of course to the top of it. Could be very nice.

That hill looks pretty steep. I know you are doing this for safety reasons but you are also raising your center of gravity... it's like a catch-22.

Also can you provide more info/specs on those switchable magnets. That is really a great idea.

I wonder if they would fit on my wife's mouth? Switchable! One can dream can't he? LOL just kidding. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Henro . . . Are those magnet blocks electro-magnets & how are those magnet blocks powered? Is there an internal battery? Is there any way to use an outside power source like the tractor's electrical system? Where'd you get them? What do they cost?

I can think of a few applications where they might come in handy.

Dewave,

Yes, I suppose the head protector will raise the center of gravity a little, but I doubt it will be too much. Still that is an extra 60 or 70 lbs. I plan on being very careful. I think the steepest slope section is about 20 degrees, but there are always soft spots and holes that can change the equation.

I don't think those magnets will work with your wife in the normal way. I have found if you stick one IN the mouth, it has about the same effect. My wife prooved that to me. I couldn't talk for a week... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I got these magnet bases from Grizzly Tools. Here is a link:

Magnetic Base from Grizzly

Bob,

These have to be one of the best buys of the year. Cost $7.95 each. I use them for holding things(guides/featherboards) to my table saw table, and also for holding tubing and things in place on my welding table.

They are not electric and have no batteries. I have not taken one apart, but I am pretty sure that the lever on the outside moves a piece of material that effectively provides an alternate path for the magnetic flux, so that in one position the flux stays within the housing, and there is little or no magnetism felt outside. So the magnet does not stick.

These are pretty neat and well worth the money, and I don't know how they can make them anywhere, and ship them here and sell them for this price. I like them so much and see so many possible uses that I just ordered ten more.

The part with the knob can be unthreaded, and replaced with a metric bolt from Home Depot or elsewhere. I think it is an 8mm bolt, and it is nothing special. I saw the same metric bolts at TSC for 39 cents each.

It might not hurt to do a little weather proofing if these things were to be left out in the elements. I think I may lightly paint the bare metal and look behind that plastic behind the on/off lever to see if some silicone sealent might be needed there.

Just a satisfied customer, as they say... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I saw this NH in Indiana. I had posted it in the New Holland forum a while back. It was very heavy protection. It would appear that the main protection was for the operator and the front and belly of the tractor. I thought it might be for logging.
