I dont sut the tractor down for an implement change or pto hook up. Most of ours are mecahinical ptos. I have an overrunning coupler on the Yanmar it helps on the pto hook ups over our old 4000 Frods hydraulic pto. I have been scolded for using the lift controle to help hook up the lift from the ground but manufactureres like JohnDeere, And IHC back before my time often had a lift control lever on the back of bigger tractors to aid in hooking up implements.

SPYDERLK,

Hmmm! Elite Member, interests, mechanical design refinement and apparently a certified and licensed mechanical engineer.

I don't ever make comments like the following, but in your case I will make an exception and at the same time I am apologizing to the thread participants.

Spyderlk my be one of the most pleasant people there is on earth and many of his comments my be more in jest than for any other purpose.

If your indicated lack of concern for the safety of yourself and others is for real, I am sure you will let me know in no uncertain terms, but at least I will know where I stand relative to the validity and sincerity of your posts.

In the mean time, until I can figure out where you are going with your style of mocking comments it will be my pleasure to recommend people avoid acquiring your design and mechanical engineering services since your lack of concern relative to safety makes me extremely uncomfortable.

As an Industrial Engineer I worked with some of the very best mechanical engineers out there in the foundry industry, possibly one of the most dangerous industries an engineer will face. The challenges are maximized in just about every way you can imagine, especially in the area of safety.

I truly hope I am way off base here and again I apologize for taking this tone with with one of the forums fellow members, but the more comments by SPYDERLK I read, the more concerned I get about where this thread is headed.

With apologies if needed.

Probably just oil drag. Should be able to stop it with your fingertips. Otherwise theres an issue with the oil visosity index, or with the drive that should be looked into.

I think he took umbrage to the part where you said:
Should be able to stop it with your fingertips.

Oh. Considering the complete post ... or even not, how is that mockery or even unconcern?

SPYDERLK,

Larry,

Last night when I posted in an unkind manner, it was late, I had been finishing a long hard day and for some reason as I was reading your reposted quotes and the comments you were making about them, the statements seemed to be belittling, mocking and know it all in character. I also got a sense that you showed a lack of concern relative to safety from the nature of your remarks.

I made a huge mistake, whenever I develop emotions like those my personal policy is to do nothing at that time, think about it, go over it again and then respond if it still seems appropriate. I shot my mouth off, so to speak, violating my own primary rule, a rule that has kept me from putting my foot in my mouth many times.

When I read over the posts and my responses today, things did not seem the same and I found myself questioning my own statements. I will go over this area of the thread again, see if I can make sense of that area and my comments and then decide what to do. Possibly, the best course of action well be to apologize to you, the forum and anybody else that might have been bothered by my curtness or no additional action at all.

At this point it may be most appropriate for me to communicate with you directly while I determine what action should be taken to most appropriately resolve this in a "yield least harm", manner.

After 69 years it is clear that I still need to work daily at self improvement.

How about it....do you shut down the engine when attaching your rear PTO implements?

Uh.... yes. And I hope your SIL has a good death/dismemberment policy...

When they send that same sorry story, usually in broken English, to 100,000 e-mail addresses, they have pretty good odds of getting a few stupid ones!
