Hour meter install

My 2660 dash conked out so I have lost hour meter and rpm. They want about $450 for a new dash and while I love the machine I think I will just install an hour meter to keep up with service times. Fuel gauge is unreliable, but temp gauge works...for now! Much obliged for any alternatives/recommendations you can suggest. What am I missing?
My BX23 has the analog hour meter. Electronics are great, but...!

Hobbs Quartz Hourmeters are "the" standard.

Just tie it into something that is only KOEO or preferably KOER.

Are you sure the demise of your dash killed your tach and hour meter? On many tractors (even some newer ones) the tach drives off a cable from the engine or alternator. Check to make sure you haven't just lost the cable. It's like the old speedometer cables - same principle.

Actually, Roadworthy, no I am not. I just cannot read the digital display which indicated to me that it is shot. Any suggestions? Perhaps I can just replace the display? I will check and see if it is offered as a part.

Maybe you can get it repaired? Some companies are able to repair dashes.

I had an old bx2200 that had no tack. I added a small tack that tied to the number one injector pipe. If memory serves, the cost was minimal. That plus an hour meter might keep your costs down.
Sorry I don’t remember cost or where I got it.

I will look into this a bit further. The "brains" of the unit must be a chip somewhere and the problem is likely...hopefully, the segmented display. Now to find the same size display. I am out of my league on this, but...onward through the fog!
