Re: House II, Siding Done

Last night would have been a nice night for me to own a pool. I'm sore and beat from working all weekend at the house /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

The white risers are either primed MDF or poplar, probably MDF. I didn't pay that much attention to it since it will be covered anyway.

I've still got a problem with posting pictures. At home those pictures looked just fine but here at work they're way too dark. My latest theory is the compression software I'm using to shrink them is also darkening them. I don't see it at home since it's perhaps pulling in a cached copy of the original picture when I preview it? I'll play some more tonight. That picture of the kitchen turned out much better than what shows /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: House II, Siding Done

RobS,

Things are looking good for your site indeed. I know what you mean about having to wait and the wait has got to be torture. The builder has revised our move date. It now stands about 5 weeks out. But this estimate is subject to change once the sheetrock is installed (end of week) and they plaster the seams (next week) he will have a better idea.

The kitchen counter tops and such are in, garage floor is done, insulation was done friday and our septic and well stuff is in, capped, and back filled.

Just waiting on Nimo to put in the meter to the box and turn on the juice. Then we get moving. We need to do the appliance ordering thing and get a water sample to determine what our level of need is for water softening.

So hopefully the week of Oct. 14th we will be moving and oh I can't wait.

Here is the latest on on the front of the house. They are finishing up the porch ceiling and the decking material is ready to be installed, I guess I have to paint it. It is that composite plastic/wood material that resists splits and splinters.

Re: House II, Siding Done

The septic guys might have done this, but its worth a check.
Is the septic tank filled with water? They tend to shoot out the ground when it rains if empty. Just a thought.

Re: House II, Siding Done

Your place is looking great Michael. I especially like the fishscales. I think we considered that same color somewhere along the way.

We got garage doors yesterday and the first floor trim is about done. I got the ultimate compliment on the wainscoting and cap rail I put up in our powder room... the trim carpenter was impressed with my joints! I'm doubly honored as he is quite the perfectionist himself and doing a beautiful job.

Apparently our site will be relatively quiet today. The flooring guy is coming to sand and stain the hardwood floors and no one else can be around during that.

We told our builder we're moving in the weekend of the 28th, whether it's done or not. She thinks we'll be ok as she has the carpet scheduled for earlier that week. Maybe some touch up painting yet to do after that, but not much else /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: House II, Siding Done

RobS,

Thanks. The sheetrock will be done in the house by tomorrow and I guess the garage by Friday. Figure Monday to clean up and they will start plaster on Tuesday (hopefully sooner).

The painter came out and did his thing to measure, still waiting for Nimo (they have the inspection stuff two days ago). So we expect to be painting in maybe 10 calender days or so. Then the house gets locked up and garage doors will be in.

I have only had one small complaint (not bad) so far and that is the crews keep leaving the windows open. Not a big thing as I visit daily, but it rained last night and could have ruined window casing, sheetrock and such. So I asked the builder to have them make sure they close the windows.

The messyness I don't mind since I am cleaning a bit (he thougt his crew did it) and that makes me feel as though I have sweat equity in it.

The builder did comment that we have GOOD WATER PRESSURE, he said like a firehose. Not bad, and very clear water. He is going to get a water sample for testing and I will get one too for the water softener. I will have it installed by the supplier so I don't have to worry about it.

I will shoot some pics this weekend when the rock is in.

Re: House II, Siding Done

Well MDNY, we're really getting down to the short straws on our house now. More driveway stone in, plumbing done other than toilet installation, upstairs paint all done, and floors stained. We're not happy with the stain color on the floors so we're in negotiations to have it redone. I had stained a sample for us to determine the color. We discussed the color and I left the sample out there but the floors are much lighter than my sample. Hoping to have them resanded and restained. Countertops are still waiting on the laminate from the manufacturer. Appliances next week and we're installing the porch floor boards tomorrow. I'll post some new pics this weekend. Watch for "House III" as Muhammad is probably close to shutting this thread down. Maybe I'll post over on CountryByNet also /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
