Re: House, Framing nearly complete

RobS,

It looks great. I know what you mean about windows. We choose to go with Pella for ours. The only other major window choice was Andersen and didnt care for their casements. We have about 31 windows and you are right the ovals are expensive. But we have the look and feel we wanted and the doors too.

I took new photo's sunday but there are 155k so they may not fit. I will try though.

Re: House, Windows

Wow, busy day yesterday /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif The framers stacked shingles on the roof for the roofers, unloaded all the windows, got the window truck unstuck, then set most of the windows. Also had plumbers, electricians and HVAC guys on site. Had a quick "topping out" celebration but it got too dark for pics of that. More today /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: House, Windows

Your house is looking great. Pretty soon they'll be starting flooring and interior finishes. When is the scheduled completion/move in date?

Re: House, Windows

Scheduled move in is Aug. 21 but I'm not going to hold my breath. Fortunately, we've got some flexibility with our rental house so if it takes a few more weeks it's not a big deal /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: House, Topping Out

We had a traditional topping out ceremony to celebrate the end of the framing phase for our house. Had to bribe one of the framers with a beer to hoist a tree up to the peak. Good times were had by all /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: House, Topping Out

... and here's the house with framing complete. Actually, the framers will be back after the chimney is up to build the porch roof. We'll be doing the porch floor and railing ourselves /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: House, Topping Out

RobS,

Things are looking great. The roof pitches are very lofty to say the least. I notice you went with the arch top windows in the turret bay. We had oringally gone that route, but in an effor to cut some cost we opted for standard transoms, look at nice, but not quite the same. Also we opted for less roof pitch, but we have 6 roofs on the main house and again costs had to be cut.

I will post some pics of our land clearing that is well underway.
