How’s Eddie?

Our number one indicator at the hospital is change in taste and/or smell.

So far all that have said yes in the past 14 days have tested positive... not that it means no change means negative.

A lot of our medical staff are very keyed into taste or smell as a self check each morning.

So glad you're doing better Eddie!

Glad to hear y'all are doing better Eddie.

Over three weeks and I still get tired easily, still have a slight cough, and taste still hasn't come back to what it was, and don't know if it will.

I'm still not back where I was before covid but I would say I'm 90%
Taking care of the farm is much easier than it was a couple weeks ago though.

Take care

Smell was my first symptom, but it wasn't a loss of smell, it was an increase to the point that it made me sick just smelling the fabric softener that my client was using while drying their clothes. It was overwhelming to the point that it made my nose run and my head feel dizzy. It only happened when I walked near the dryer vent, and it went away when I was out of that area. The next day I woke up with a fever, and that was when I figured something was wrong. The dryer vent issue never made me think I was sick, I just thought that they where using a crazy amount of fabric softener.

Re: How痴 Eddie?

Thanks for asking. Karen was on Hydroxychloroquine for her lupus and she was 100% after 2 weeks. Diarrhea was her worse issue, but we blame that more on having colon cancer 3 years ago then the Covid. She also lost her sense of smell and taste, but its coming back quickly.

I'm on day 20 and feeling pretty good. The last week I've gone from thinking I was done with it, to having fatigue so bad that it wore me out to just sit up and watch TV. It just comes and goes like a wave. I never lost my sense of taste or smell. Probably the worse thing for me was the muscle and joint aching. The fever never came back after the first 3 days. The only medicine that I took was Tylenol for the fever. My wife gave me some vitamins, but I don't know if they do anything or not.

I think it was last Tuesday or Wednesday that I went in to see my Doctor, and she said that I was no longer contagious. And that I was doing good and to not push myself too hard.

I plan on going back to work on Monday. I have an attic job that I had started the day I first started feeling something. I have all the framing done, so now it's just sheetrock, electrical, insulation and trim work. Carrying 3 sheets of sheetrock up there is the only physical part of the job, so I'll do one, rest, then the other, and rest and then finish with the smaller pieces from the third sheet. It should be simple enough.

Sorry that I abandoned the other thread. It was taken over by silly people making silly comments that nobody cared about except themselves.

Thanks for the update Eddie, this is all good news to hear. But I have to laugh at your sheetrock carrying plan. That is hard work even when someone is healthy, especially if stairs or vertical lifting is needed. So I hope you take it super easy or can find a helper for that part. Or maybe cut the sheets down if that will work. At worst it will be a few extra joints to tape.

I have a funny story about sheetrock. Right before we finished our new house, I drywalled and finished the bonus room in our old house before we put it up for sale. Years earlier I had carried a bunch of drywall up there but it was only enough for the ceiling and top row on the walls, so I needed about 10 more sheets to finish the bottom row. Getting the drywall up there required going up stairs that had a left turn and landing about halfway up, so there was a bit of maneuvering. My wife was pregnant at the time, so I planned to do this all by myself and told her to just relax. Well, after about the third sheet, I must have looked so angry and defeated, my wife told me to stop swearing and helped with each sheet. So I was rescued by a pregnant woman. I tried to make sure she wasn't lifting any weight, but I have to admit, the extra hands really really helped with steering and maneuvering.

I've followed the Eddie posts.

They have given me some positive outlook on the whole Covid thing.
While confusing at times is nice to learn that while never that nice a situation many are pulling through.

I wonder if it is not a 'nature thing' like with many animals that suffer cycles that often have been named a 7 year cycle.

I have a funny story about sheetrock.

I'm afraid I have very limited experience with sheetrock. Many years ago, a good friend and neighbor had a big house with a 2 car garage, but he decided to build a one car garage at the back of the yard, complete with lights, A/C, etc. I helped just a little, very little. But when it came to putting the sheetrock on the ceiling . . . . . well, we both had motorcycles, so we had helmets. So we put our helmets on, got on ladders, and used our heads to hold the sheetrock in place. Imagine how difficult it was to drive mails while holding the sheetrock with your head.

Glad that this thread was started. I too wanted to know how Eddie and his wife were doing but got tired of wading through all the nonsense in his original thread to wait for an update from him. I can sure understand why he didn't bother to update that thread.

Glad you and your wife are doing better. As others have said don't go too hard too early. Got to give your body a chance to recover.

Why is it most posts tend to roam--- LOL, Bird you guilty

On sheetrock, I made wooden 'T's', usually 2" longer than the height and simply jamb them between floor and ceiling.
I was able to self solo sheetrock all my ceilings that way.

OK, back to Eddie and Covid

They make a screw gun attachment that only sinks screws to a certain point. This way the sheet rock paper doesn't get ripped. Picked a couple of those attachments up for when we did a remodel on our house. Much easier to use a screw gun and screw then trying to drive nails.

A friend of mine had pnemonia with his Covid and was in the hospital with a ventilator for awhile. He is also well over 400 pounds and eats fast food several times a day. His doctor gave him a B12 shot and he said that worked great at giving him more energy. I asked my doctor about that when I saw here and she laughed. She said that it was a placebo and it would do nothing to give me more energy. Only resting and waiting it out will accomplish that.

Your doctor is correct Eddie . . .

Glad you're both doing better Eddie, this is also my "first hand" contact with those affected so it was interesting to read. Thanks!

Good to hear you & your wife are on the mend.

Eddie hate to hear you're dealing with it, but good to hear you two are getting out of it. It isn't one to play around with that's for sure.

Glad you are doing good, just don't go overboard with working I have known people who overdid it and the covid returned

Yeah, I like that one too.
