How about a grease cartridge thread?

At 76, I sometimes think that I should have one of my doctors install a zerk on each knee. Then I could give them a couple of shots each morning so they'd move easier. (Some days they need it more than others.)

Trouble is, I don't know which grease would be best for that application...

Red grease. Trouble is that where does it squish out to and is there a danger of blowing seals with too much grease? My wife has had both knees replaced. I asked the doc to install zerks. He smiled and said they were sealed bearings.

When it comes to grease, oil and other lubes and someone asks what is the best kind, I always want to answer “the slippery kind”. There are so many quality ones on the market you are probably good to go if you buy a well known brand name.
While some greases are better than others, any grease is better than no grease at all.

I don't have any advice for which grease you should use for your knees but I think you would use a kneedle-point applicator.

Exactly. You can't save money by skimping on lubricants, you can only defer costs for a short time.

Kluber synthetic grease is very good but expensive. I’m more interested in finding a good gun that doesn’t get you dirty or air bound and doesn’t pull the fittings out of the threads when you’re done

I have been using Tractor Supply Premium heavy duty for years. Works for me. As some other greases do, it leaks some.

I've been a Lucas Red and Tacky user for about ever. But I hate what they've done with the plastic tubes. Frankly, the grease doesn't seem the same either. What are we using for lithium spindle / chassis grease that still comes in cardboard and works well?
I sold some TRC greases and oil - (Very Long-Lasting product AND it's been around since 1922). I had to quit since farmers around here do not want to spend money by using Irving products that don't last. Yes, I showed them the test how the difference is - and it's always , I'll get back to you.
However, I use it on all my stuff at home - (homeowner with 59 acres) with my John Deere 1025R, lawnmowers, etc....... (Look up Texas Refinery Corporation online)

I have a couple of grease guns with plungers that will just NOT fit into the grease tube. I've fought with that spring loaded monster so many times. It makes me want a 5 gallon pail and a pump to refill the lever gun.

What exactly happens when incompatible greases are mixed?
In the worst case, a total loss of lubricity. Depending on the makeup of the greases, it can turn to hardened clay and not release any of the oils or the oils all run out. The lubrication properties are lost in either case.

I dropped R&T several years ago for the same dripping reason, what a mess. Switched to Lucas Extra HD green and never looked back. When I can’t find it I use JD poly green, same stuff. Both work really well, no compatibility issues, and no dripping. Best of luck.

I've been using this stuff since I purchased the Kioti, on the recommendation of someone on here. I'm not a commercial user, and this case of grease is going to last me a long time.

I use the Lock-n-lube G-Gun with their locking coupler. Bulk fill the hopper. Foot pedal sends the grease under high pressure. Lift up on the foot lever and it releases all pressure for a clean disconnect. I use a Schaeffer's Moly Grease in my tractors and mowers. Long hose reaches all my zerks on one side of my tractor. Very clean greasing operation.

Red and tacky sucks and runs everywhere. I use a system where the plastic tube screws into the grease gun. No leaks and no waste. Plus you don't get it all over you or something else changing the tubes. I will look and see what the brand is and let you know.
