How big is your garden and how many tomato plants?

Small tomatoes are starting to form so I fertilized the plants a couple days ago with 19-19-19. Did both sides 4" down and 4 " to the side. Got a good 1 1/2" of rain since then with 85 to 90 degree temps and those tomatoes and plants look like they doubled in size overnight. Maybe tomatoes in 10 days if I'm lucky. Hope others are doing well.

Do you harvest after the first hard frost? While searching, I found that they are the sweetest after a good frost.

Yes Jim wait until it gets colder is the norm. Around here first frost usually comes around the 3rd week in Sept. They will keep out in the field until the ground freezes solid.

Yeah sixdogs our tomatoes have doubled to! It has poured here every night this week! The garden is on a hillside and still has standing water, the zucchini is waist high and full the wife waded mud and pulled 4 big one and an armload of cucumbers tonight, said the pickle ones could wait till it dries some. We seem to be stuck in the storm path this week, we had good sized hail one night, If I had bags we could have sold ice, but the garden sure seems to like it.

I took a picture this morning to send to someone and by afternoon the photo looked dated in that the plants had grown so much from this morning. It's hard to believe what a little fertilizer, some heat and rainfall will do.

Sixdogs How much rain have you gotten this week? We are stuck in this storm path and have had at least one good storm every night! I had left the wheel barrow out last Monday and it had 9 1/4" of rain water in it this morning! It stormed so hard yesterday it was flooding around the house and yard and I live on top of the hill! and of course it is raining again. The garden is mud everything is growing like crazy, even the weeds, but you'd have to wade mud to do anything and I figure it is best to leave it alone!

well my garden is 60' x 40' and in the past years i would have aroud 22 tmater plants. down sizing this year will only have about 10. i have a seperate garden for my taters i will plant 100 lb of seed taters this time, thats half what i planted last year. we have had a real problem in the past years with drout in the middle of growing season and our only way to water is from our well that supplies the house, so we decided we needed to try and not use it for watering the garden. i have 2 springs but there in the moutain and it's alot of time and work hauling water.i have not planted the first seed yet, was going to plant some monday but the weather not looking good for that.

well i need to correct my numbers, i started out planted 10 tomato plants they died, so i got 10 more and 8 of them didn't make it. so i got some more and my brother has a buddy that plants 1000 tomato and 100 pepper plants so he brings me 2 big bunches so now i have 35 very healthy tomato plants. i'm excited about 5 of my plants they are from this lady who has kept the seeds going for 50 years and they are suppose to be real low in acid. i know they don't look anything like my others, so we will see what happens

You just lucked out because all we got over the last week is around 1 3/4 inches. That's all. The storms kept parting around us as they came out of Indiana and mostly missed us. Even last night after Delaware got 3.5" or so, we only got .38". Sorry for your area but this week will dry out.
Yeah, I know what you mean about the mud--- we have Kokomo soil and if I even stare at it too long it sticks to my shoes. Can't go near it for a couple days.

Yeah I saw tonight that part of my garden migrated down the hill! But on the good side I have a whole new crop of rocks though!

Just ran the weedwacker thru my garden and around the plants...works better than a hoe!
