How did you first discover Kubota?

Yeah apparently Deere has gotten pretty snippy with their dealers on carrying other brands. Around here there is a lot more green than orange, and Deere likes it that way. There was one Deere/Kubota dealer in New Richmond WI a few years back. I drove out there one day and it was Deere only. Was told they got an ultimatum from the Green Boys..."Them or us. Not both." Every time I look at features vs prices for Green and Orange, Orange always seemed to come out on top. I was a bit shocked how much green they wanted for Greene... :D

Deere wouldn't want to do that with my dealer now that Kubota has the M6, M7 and all the hay tools. Because those are about the biggest tractors used around here anyway. So really no need to have Deere around.
I can't remember the exact numbers, but my dealer said to order a Deere....for whatever model it is they have to take and sell so many more of that model, in so many months. That's Deere's policy.

I bought a BX22 brand new. It was my first tractor. I had driven by the Kubota dealer for several years a d always wanted one. I had a hand me down Ariens GT17 mower / tractor that was on its last legs and I decided to replace it with the biggest riding mower Sears sold.....it was also the biggest piece of chit I ever bought. I had that for 2 days and brought it back to Sears, got a refund and went straight to Kubota.

The only Deere Kubota Dealer I know got the same letter and booted Deere.

It is up in the Gold Rush country of the Sierra Nevada

All depends on the local market, I suppose... I explained what this area is like. Still don't get why Deere wins so many sales here. The price/value just seems way off vs Kubota. C'est la vie

In the Sierra Foothills there are a lot of small operations and folks with acreage...

It's not at all like the Central Valley with the big players...

One of the local plumbers has a small Deere Backhoe... I stopped one day about 10 years ago to ask about it... the owner said his Uncle had a Deere Dealership in Montana??? it was small and he was not able to put the money into to it that Deere required so after 50 years the place closed... the plumber's backhoe was the last tractor sold... it was ordered for someone that changed their mind with the Dealership closing.

To be fair... there have been several local Kubota Dealers close up... that didn't go to another line... they just closed up shop...

It must be tough to be a small family dealership...

Prior to 30 years ago we were buying large air cooed engine tractors and replacing them every 3-5 years. Our last Simplicity with a twin Onan engine need a rebuild after the 3rd year.
I decided to look at diesels and decided on a Kubota. JD, IH and other diesel utility tractors were built in Japan any way so I went with Kubota. Bought an L2250 first and then a B8200
a year later. That was mid 1980's, both tractors still running with 1000's of hours on them. The L2250 sits outside and looks rough, but i can go out and start it after sitting for months
on a battery minder. In 30 years Ive replaced one hydraulic pump on the L2250, nothing on the 8200. Im adding a new one this year and looked at the Deere but there just no reason to change.

After I bought a 26 acre property to build my retirement house, I decided that a tractor would be a necessity. There are only 2 dealers within 100 miles of "nowhere" where my property was. A JD dealer and a Kubota/New Holland dealer.

Having heard good things about JD, I went there first. They had a very fancy showroon with tractors on display inside just like an auto dealer. A salesman was sitting beind a counter and as I walked around looking at their equipment, he totally ignored me. I walked up to him and asked what they had in a "small" tractor. Since this was my first, I had no idea what I wanted or needed. His reply was, and this is an exact quote - "There are some out back in the yard. Go out and look and tell me which one you want and we can write it up".

He never got up from his seat and I never went "out back". I have never been back to that place since.

Next I went to the K/NH dealer. It was a bunch of old run down sheds with new and used equipment scattered around. I met Al who's title was Sales Manager, but of course he was their only salesman. Al asked me a lot of questions about what size property, what did I want to do, what was my budget etc. After he was satisfied with the "interrogation", only then did he show me his equipment. He showed me several K's and NH's that would meet my needs.

We talked price and he gave me a written quote that seemed resonable and never pressured me to make the sale. In the following weeks, I did some online and phone search in the Central Valley which is the closest agricultural area to me and found that Al's numbers were in line with market. I called Al and squeezed him a little more to throw in a shade canopy, free delivery of about 80 miles and a couple of small extras and he said OK.

A couple of days later I signed on the dotted line and my Kubota B7800 was delivered within a week.

Sometimes the small dealers are the best. They have a large inventory of parts and I haven'''t ever had to wait for service.

To the OP, Pretty soon you,ll be wrapping your own Christmas presents, and end up being totally surprised at getting exactly what you wanted, while scratching your head wondering how someone else could have figured that out. LOL

I recall way back when seeing these light weight looking scrawny things that were supposed to be tractors. Mostly they were in back yards doing lawn and garden work. Then a few years later I saw them in fields. We all know what happened after that.....
