I have a PTO shaft for a 70 CAT 2 tiller. The PTO shaft has a slip clutch. There are no instructions with it on how to adjust it. I know with the slip clutch on my Bush Hog rotary mower, the insturctions for it are very precise. What should i do?

As far as I know there is a series of springs with bolts that go thru them and the space between the flanges have to be a certain measurement, without a manual/directions It may be very difficult. Does it slip now?

Does your PTO shaft maker have a website? Most have directions that can be DL for free or maybe your local dealer may have a set he could copy for you?
Who is maker of PTO, I can do some looking

If you flat cannot find instructions, the way I was taught was as follows:
1. Make sure all bolts are tightened down equally;
2. Mark the slip clutch with a line so you will know if it slips;
3. Now engage your equipment as suddenly as possible without load;
4. Adjust bolts in or out (making sure not too far out), until clutch just slips when equipment engages; and finally
5. Depending on equipment you can torque it up or down just a bit from there (some equipment like a tiller you will probably want to torque down a bit or it will never get any work done).

May be lots of other ideas, that is just how I was taught and it has always seemed to work fine, but I have never tried on ground engaging equipment.
