How do you talk to an XR4140?

I am watching this thread with very closely. Strantor, please keep us updated. As stated before, the only difference between the XR4145 and XR4155 is the coding in the ECU. It would be awesome to get more HP outta my 45hp by just flashing the ECU! Probably gotta wait a few years for the warranty, but if we get the ducks in rows before then...

Actually the only difference in the XR or the XG 3135 and the XR4155 is the coding in the ECU, l will be watching this thread also.

I got it from eBay out of China. It's called Kess and Ktag and you probably shouldn't think of it as a diagnostic tool. It does have some diagnostic features but this system is mainly used for extracting and re-mapping (flashing) the chips in ECUs. I would strongly encourage you to do your own research and decide if you think it will work for what you have and do what you want. As far as hardware goes, it comes with every interface board and cable and jumper and pin and whatever needed to interface with any ECU on the market, from motorcycles to boats to dozers to minivans, but software support has to be written for each vehicle. I arrived at the conclusion that this system would work after extensive research and lengthy reading on Russian/Chinese ECU hacking forums. There is no software support explicitly for the LS XR tractor that I could find evidence of, but they do have the Case IH Farmall 40C in the database, which should be the exact same as my LS XR4140. Same engine, same ECU, same tractor, different color. So in my mind it was a relatively safe gamble. I haven't tested it yet. I just unboxed it to take the picture. I will update this thread once I do.

If you want the legit interface that LS uses, it's called Carnics UVIM. I can only find that for sale from a single seller on Alibaba out of Korea, who has not replied to any of my messages and seems to have not logged in in months. Maybe he was "offed" by the Korean mafia at the behest of LS. And even if he were reachable, the listing does not include software. I cannot find the software anywhere. It's available for download at the LS Korea website if you have dealer login credentials but I don't. Since the Case IH tractor is the same and the New Holland Boomer 40 is the same, either of those softwares should work (I assume) but those are equally well guarded, albeit with more interest and more avenues to acquire them. The pirated New Holland software is available on eBay but I refuse to purchase it and I recommend the same.

Really? Since when? Literally this month? I took the attached pictures 3 weeks ago at the county fair, New Holland dealer was there with a whole line of LS Mtron machines that didn't end until up around 75hp I believe.

Fiat owns NH now... The Boomer CVT models are built in-house by Fiat, heche en Mexico. The other Boomer and Workmaster models are made by LS.

I'm sure it would work, but the ECU costs >$2,500 and has the same part number for XR4140/XR4145/XR4150/XR4155 (LS P/N 40284461). I imagine either:
1. When you order it, they ship you a blank slate which you're expected to bring to your dealer for programming
2. You're supposed to submit special instructions with the purchase, indicating which tractor it's for, and they program it before they ship it.
In either case, I'm betting heavily they expect some sort of proof as to which tractor you purchased/own.

Is that the price your dealership quoted you?? I would suggest going to New Holland and buy one.

Any updates? My XR4140h ECU seems problematic.
