How do you tie down tractors when hauling on a trailer?

Now, Nunyabinis got a ribbing, but you can learn a good lesson here:

- Tie down your machine properly; and
- Never post a picture of it loaded!

Somebody has to be the example of what not to do.

You're welcome.

This may be overkill, but it's not hard to do or expensive.

Tie down four corners, 3/8 G70 chain, 4 ratchet binders of the same rating, nylon straps on the loader bucket and whatever is on the 3 pt.

I don't go far but, it makes me feel safer.

Still might be able to find flaws in my set up :)

Now you see, I would be happier if the chains holding the back of the tractor were fixed lower down so as they were shorter.

If the chains also pulled around the rear tyre that would stop any movement under braking and less likely to get any sideways movement.

Just my opinion:D

He may want to think about draining all the fuel and fluids too and transport them in a different vehicle. No need to run the risk of a possible fire or oil spill.

Just sayin'.

I didn't think the back was bad, I was more thinking the front should be attached higher.

Looks like the back is greater than 45 degrees and the front is less. but that's the best I could find, as there are not alot of options for attaching chains on these CUTS.

The back is connected to alloy high grade clevis shackle thru the BH mounting holes, otherwise no other point on the back of the machine. the front is hooked right over the top of the weight bracket frame.

Man, ive NEVER seen a chain cut thru at a rubbing spot...because once its fully tightened up with a ratchet binder......theres NO WAY its going to rub. Theres no way its going to move.

All my chains (5/15) are nearly 20+ years old...and not a bit of damage. And there used for logging and binding loads.

About axle height is good I find, pulling the tractor in four directions, if you can pull down and also against the inside of the tires to stop it going sideways and keep the chains short as possible then it wont move. I used to haul excavators and large machines (up to 40 tonnes) on low loaders and never had one move, if its going anywhere it will go forwards when you brake for that stray cat or dog:)

I hope I'm the example of what to do... be gentle!

I see problems already :)

If that back strap is just placed over the 3 point arms like it looks in the picture, then that would provide little security against movement.

If you at least made one wrap around each arm that would make it better, but there is a lot of play in those arms still.

Can't see the front good enough, but the load looks to be fairly well distributed on the trailer.
