I did my 50 hour maint in about 2 hours. wasnt very hard. But then i descided to wash and wax the tractor, and this took longer than the maint.

At 100*F I'm not in much of a hurry to do anything, the B2410 50hr inspection/lube takes about 1 hour to complete as I have the mower deck to include. The 200hr service is half of a day and longer if I need to sharpen the blades (almost always do).

That of course, does not include the 2 hour trip to get the lube, filters and blades I need to complete the jobs and no we do not make a special trip.

For the Elec-Trak, I spend about an hour per YEAR on it and most of that is adding water to the batteries and checking tire pressure :)

It usually takes me about 2 hours no matter which tractor I'm doing, of course I was a lot younger when we had the big Internationals and JD's, but now my L5030 takes about the same time to do it all.

If it's taking 8hours, you are not managing your time well.

Do multiple things simultaneously.

Start the engine oil draining and hit the grease fittings.

Start the trans fluid draining and replace the filters.

The only other advice is to just "git 'er done" and not waste time, motion, effort. I've watched people that diddle and dawdle wasting time by going back and forth, looking for parts and tools etc. Do an honest appraisal of where your time is being spent and focus on reducing it.

i agree. 8 hours will service all the machines I will be using that year.. plus implements.. plus cleaning my shop afterwards.. plus feeding the animals,, and many other things that requie time.. :)

if ua got buckets and bbls, you can have em all draining at once..

I think a lot of it has to do with confidence and experience. A new guy will be alot slower, thinking about every step and figuring out what tools to use. A guy who has worked on equipment all his life will do in two hours what takes a first timer eight hrs. I fit somewhere in the middle. I don't rush but work steady and strive for efficiency. I figure a major service - all fluids and filters is a half days work.

I don't see a reason to go fast, I rather enjoy it, I don't get my hands dirty often so I see no reason to speed through it :)

When I do my oil change, etc it takes a few hours but I'm fine with it. In between I hit a few grease spots and check the oil along the way but that's about it unless something beckons.
I used to spend way more time before I figured out a lot of it was not all that urgent. As well, the more time I have the more I spend because I generally enjoy the task.

yeah, this is only my second time doing a maint. so I do need to think about each step and double check I'm putting the right fluid in the right hole, etc. I also ran into a problem getting the tractor started after the fuel filter replacement which took some time. I don't rush...1) I enjoy it and 2) don't want to make a mistake I can't fix! I do putz around a bit...zip tying a few wires better, oiling some areas that the OM does not mention, etc.

I found laying out all the parts and tools the night before, helps a lot...just makes it less stressful.

All in all...knowing what the dealer charges, how long it takes them to get my tractor back to me, and how poor of a job they do...I'll do this all day!

I serviced my tractor a while back and it only took about 1 hour. But I didn't service the tranny till a week later and had to take the cylinder for the 3 point lift apart at the same time so that took a little longer. But consider the amount of hydraulic fluid my tractor holds, it would have only taken 30 minutes and i would have drained it at the same time as i drain the engine oil. I can say that cleaning the hydraulic filter takes a little time considering having to wash it in gasoline and blowing it out with an air compressor.
