Perhaps. Perhaps not. Fortunately, I didn't have to find out. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Yeah, I woke up to gunpoint at around 20. I beat the snot out of the kid and he ran like a scared chicken. BFD. Since then I have had to confront a number of people with guns while unarmed and talked my way out of it. Again, BFD. Yes, I would have rather been armed but also admit that if I had been, someone may have died, possibly me. Where I most value a gun is in my home and defending it. Sawdoff pump shotgun when I go to the door not knowing who is there.

Just because you carry a firearm does not mean it will be or should be deployed, it just gives you that option. All training I've had before and since retirement emphasized the "Continuum of Force" and that the firearm is to be used only when a lesser degree of force has not or cannot handle the situation and you are unable to otherwise extricate yourself from the situation through peaceful means.

The emotional and financial aftermath of a use of deadly force incident is something no one wants to go through.

Obama care hasn't started, it's all been delayed except the taxes. Illegally I might add. The economy is still shrinking, slowly collapsing. 14 million fewer working. Feds still printing 85 billion a month, devaluing your currency and then monetizing it, not good. Not sure how funneling money to bale out unions and funding your political friends (soyendra) would lower crime. Deflationary signs starting, and is inline with what happens in a progression of events clearly understood throughout history when an economy collapses, and prints money, and then monetizing debt. If I thought all CCW owners shared your attitude I would not object to CCW. It is clear however that many others feel empowered to go to the gun first when carrying and that's the problem. Mossroad's story is telling. Because he didn't have a gun he managed to escape and encounter with armed drunken louts. Had he been armed, I think we would be down one moderator on TBN. All too often, even otherwise reasonable people seem unable to quash their boyhood superhero fantasies when armed it seems.

Many years ago, I was on scene of a domestic as a civilian assisting an Officer (long story) when he holstered his handgun, said, I can't do this" and walked off. The rest of the story is unimportant, but you just can't say what anyone will do in any situation.
